I used to have an endura stealth jacket. No idea where it is now, whats the best waterproof breathable jacket right now?

Waterproof OR breathable - choose one. The best genuinely waterproof jacket I've ever owned is made from Polartec Neoshell. Mine's from Montane and has a hood - which is a royal PITA when you unzip to vent and it blows around. But the material is great.

Looking for suggestions for spd shoes/ boots. Current Shimanos are knackered and have always been too narrow for my slabs. So need a wide-fitting spd shoe/boot to see me through the horrors of a Cambridgeshire winter, south of £100 ideally... Will go and try but some pointers would be great. Thanks!

I do rate Katmandu jackets for both waterproofness and breathability and have owned quiet a few over the years and used for putting up with crap New Zeland weather getting to work and going snowbaording etc. They generally have a removable inside layer as well.

Is there a recommended water repellant / resistant overshoe that's really thin? Doesn't need to be warm. First winter of spd use, tried to put my overshoes on but there's no longer enough room between my foot and the crank arm

You can use the velotoze, very waterproof very thin, but a bit of a pain for commuting. Rapha have their pro team rain covers, which are thin but perhaps you can find other brands with the same thing cheaper.

Any recommendations for clear cycling glasses for early morning winter rides? I can't really justify buying official clear Oakley Radar lenses?..
-
• #363
Surely it would be cheaper to buy the clear lenses if you already have the frames?
-
• #364
My fake Pocs came with clear lenses.
-
• #365
Yeah, but £40 for clear lenses?
-
• #366
Buy fake oakleys from aliexpress. Get spare lenses ...
Was going to recommend Walleva for replacement lenses but not sure they do ones for Radars any more -
• #367
Yeah I'm enjoying my fake POCs with clear lenses for the dark commutes. Although they definitely make me look like a pervert.

If you want REALLY cheap, just buy some Bollé 'Safety glasses' in one of their sportier shapes for £5 and be happy in the knowledge that your eyes are protected from almost any chemical known to man and low speed projectiles.

Take your sunglasses off?

I always ride with glasses on, when I choose not to I just end up with grit being blown into my eyes.
These days I tend to have a go to pair of photochromic glasses, and then have fuck off lights for night riding.

That's the rapha experience. True Grit.
-
• #372
you are mistaking film grain with grit but yeah same things

Wise words. This one time a van traveling in the opposite direction kicked a stone up which smashed the lens from my Jawbones out of the frame. I retrieved it and was glad to still have my sight in that eye.

Any companies out there making 3m reflective jackets in proper race fit and not the massive bin bag ones?
