  • I like this so much more than I thought it would, good job man!

  • Steal one, pop in a new chassis number that matches the reg doc et voila.

  • Not as easy on a gtc.

They are very unique, each one.

  • As opposed to being partially unique?

  • The missing roof being one of those hints.

  • It is do with how the first 1000 or so cars were built and documents were kept. If the car is a genuine 99of the rhd the differences are documented car to car.

  • I think @Dammit is referring to the fact the you can't have degrees of uniqueness, a thing is either unique or it's not.

    Doueven partridge?

  • If anyone is interested my 1962 vw split screen kombi is for sells. Rhd, bare metal resto 10years ago, all bells and whistles.
Pics to follow early next week as it's out at my folks place..

  • I fancy a 4 seat converti/able to fix a bit over the winter for bombing about town next spring and summer.

    Contenders so far:

    Golf clipper
    205 CJ
    Saab 900, the first one

Are early TTs retro cool yet? I'm thinking they might be.

    Other ideas?

Nothing too wafty like an SL thanks, it's for skidding into parking spaces and leaving there all day with the roof down.

  • In a car, I would disagree. As in his porker and is volvo they all look the sameas any other same model. In his case each has the same volvo and porsche shell unique to that model. The guilia of that time was still going through some experimentation and the convertibles more so. I know about the 99 no idea about the left hand drives after the end of the 99 as I have nor been involved with any. Simple things like the mounting of the pedals.

But as Dammit has said a few times, what would I know.

  • MK1 golf with a gti engine. All convertables are built by karman not vw. Cliper is just a big bumpered MK1 get an earlier one. cleaner lines and prettier car.

205 cj all leak. Live with it move on.

900 cabs arenice but all suffer from rear suspension beam issues.

  • Skoda Rapide cab?

Or would that just be silly?

As you may have noticed I quite like cars with the engine at the back.

  • Too big and deeply, irretrievable uncool.

  • Che?

  • Similar size to a Saab 900. I don't like cabs but for a cab, I think the bm is ok.

  • Skoda Rapide cab?

    This, in spades.

  • Like your thinking. Had a few 130 and a 136 and a 135. Never had the balls to cut the roof off and the cars are quite rare. The 136 had the split drive shafts so handling problems sorted.

With a few tweaks and the group b exhaust and carbs the road car ran out of gearing at 125 odd.

  • @Hefty

    Citreon Mehari.

  • White wall tyres and spoiler...

  • Looks ace, good job. Might as well go nuts with it now. If you're getting the big exhaust you're going to need the big carbs.

  • There is a kit to turn a rapid in to a 356 roadster look a like

  • Saab 900 cab would be lovely, although I am into some sort of Howards Way car revival fetish since getting the mk2 Golf.
