  • Ouch... £719!

Might be sticking with the 6P a little longer.

  • £599 for black, 32gb 5"

Twice what I paid for the waterproof Sony. Is the Pixel waterproof?

  • Looks like Carphone Warehouse were wrong about the SD slot :(.

It looks good though apart from the plastic bit on the back. Will be nice to have an aluminum android phone. Would probably do what I did with the Nexus 5X thought and wait until there are some cheap deals.

  • £600 notes for the 32GB model is way too steep.

Fuckers have taken the 5x off sale too. My instant reaction was to buy a new 5X to keep me going for a few years while the Pixel drops in price.

  • Not quite a dealbreaker for me but the Z5 has one up for me. Drop the dual sim and I'm out.

  • It was never going to have an SD slot. Google don't do SD slots (on phones, I think my Chromebook Pixel has a full size one).

If the Pixel phone is as good as the Pixel laptop I want one. But when they're cheaper, obviously.

  • They finally listen and produce a decent sized phone, then double the price of my N5.

    Nexus 5 (32GB, Black) £339.00

What is twice as good on it?

  • I'm sure the Pixel C is going to be the best android phone around but as Hippy says, not twice as good as the Nexus 5 was. I realise that's not how pricing works but I really do think £600 takes the piss.

Just bought a 5x from Argos for £175 (with voucher). That'll do me for a year or two.

  • the whole point of android is that its cheaper than iPhone LOL

  • I sent the link to my mate and he said "looks like an iphone, costs as much as an iphone, fail" and I tend to agree.

Obviously I'll buy one next week because I'm a cock.

  • Yeah I guess I just wanted it to be true :'(.

  • I agree with the sentiments of this article: http://www.zdnet.com/article/pixel-galaxy-iphone-oh-my-why-pay-a-premium-when-every-phone-runs-the-same-apps/

They all run the same apps, so unless there is a 'killer' new feature or your old phone is dying, is there any need to buy the latest flagship.

  • I was waiting for the pixel release, but fuck paying that much. Any body got a Xiaomi Redmi 3? ticks a lot of boxes for me.

  • If the Pixel phone is as good as the Pixel laptop I want one. But when they're cheaper, obviously.

    This.

If Google managed so well with the Pixel laptop (it already felt a lots better than the latest MacBook), their new phone should be the same.

  • So the Pixel XL with 128gb is £819. The OnePlus 3 same size screen with 64gb is £329. Very hard to justify the extra £490 for me.

    Anyone have a oneplus 3?

  • Yeah it's a joke. Will hopefully drop though so when my 5X eventually wears out I can buy one :)

  • Yep, it's great. As ever with Oneplus I think the concern is after-sales support if something does go wrong, but I believe they're starting to sell through O2 here in the UK soon so that should help...

The phone itself is spot on, no lag ever, dash charging is very fast, camera is good, rooting is easy, they've provided dash charge and (apparently soon) camera blobs to the community for cyanogenmod ROMs and so forth so sticking an unofficial ROM on there shouldn't break things or cause stuff to not work. Oh and official updates are coming through pretty regularly. No complaints whatsoever from me.

  • None of the AI functionality they showed off is new. It's just got a new interface. All the "Ok Google" stuff is already available and they were showing it off like it's the first time we've seen it.

Also, when the dude told the phone to text someone, it didn't use Allo, which will probably be gone in a year.

Also no text input to Google Assistant... WTF.

  • Rebranded Google Now?

  • ANyone want a moto x play? I broke the screen but just been repaired by SBE. So as new.

  • bought one direct from OnePlus before I read this. O2 are selling it on payg. is it unlocked? Is it best for me to cancel my current order and get the O2 payg then put my own sim in?

  • Not a clue, I bought direct a few weeks after release and it's been fine - unless it's cheaper from O2 I'd stick with it, I guess.

  • more pricey but will be delivered quicker. I'll stick I think.
