Fitting another fireplace. Have dug out the old hearth so that I can tile to floorboard level. Old fireplace freshly tiled, and haven't finished adding the blacking polish yet. Also chiselled out the bonding plaster from the chimney breast so that it fits snugly to the brickwork.

Room to the right becomes part of the dining room. It's the bit we just re-built with big windows to get some light in as there were no windows before. I believe it would originally have possibly been a WC as the original lead water main ran along the wall inside.

Our crap 70s 24" electric is going on 26 years of our use - we inherited it with the house. I would hope that something like that ^ would outlive you (may you live long and prosper).

Agreed. It weighs 200kg and is built like an armoured vehicle and it will last a looooong time. I should have been clearer but the agreement I have is that after 15 years, when we'll likely sell the house, I can replace it with a Lacanche. I consider this the second to last range I will ever buy. Hmmmmm....Lacanche.....

The labels will still start to come off after about six cleans and then you'll be fucked remembering all the knobs.
