  • Seatpost grams are there to be saved, but pricey.

Could easily save stem grams, but I'd rather have a stiff stem. Sick Watts innit.

  • You could also shim to a 27.2mm seatpost to save a little more, no?

  • I thought post diameter didn't make much difference to weight? Wider diameter = thinner walled?

  • How did Reading go?

  • About 5 seconds faster on Goring and 7 seconds on Streatley - tried a bit harder than last year. Bradbury's CR went on Goring by a few seconds.

Unfortunately my suspicions have been confirmed and the quality of the field was better so I doubt I improved on my placing from last year.

Seriously though, I am pretty much done with the weight saving. Chasing a few more grams is a bit pointless on a frame that's 500g too heavy.

  • Well done! That's a brilliant improvement over a year.

Weight Weenieism is only really fun cause we're equipment geeks. Gains are mostly psychological (though I reckon rim/tyre weight matters most). As you say, I reckon how much you manage to empty yourself and genetics are the main factors. Pies matter too but you're skinny enough so it's down to marginal gains for body weight as well.

Not quite sure I agree - I'm 74kg at the moment and could definitely be <70 with effort. But <3 food.

  • It's more fun expending the effort turning the pedals.

  • Looking slightly less sprightly on Morten Fizzback's flickr

  • Are you riding the nationals?
Weight probably won't matter "as much" since it's a short course?

  • If I get in. It's a climb, so weight will still matter! Probably suits a slightly heavier (more powerful) rider.

  • Hump that stem

  • Stewski captured the moment.

  • You're riding the Kingston Wheelers Leith Hill HC at the weekend, nice one!

  • I am! No idea about gearing however, though I gather it is fixed friendly. Do you have a startsheet? I've not received anything yet, just seen the startlist on TTF.

  • I've never tried it in race conditions, but the advice I got from someone who used to be on here was "65 and go for it" essentially.

  • 65!? That's a bit taller than I was thinking, and at ~5 minutes it's not really a hill I'd want to blow up on... was thinking more like 55".

  • I'm trying like mad to find the bit of text that confirms my recollection.

  • Looks like Tadders has ran 38x17 in the past, 39x19 should be alright for me I think as I'd prefer to be seated if possible. Or maybe 42x19... I'll have a spin up before the race and see how it feels.

  • And there you go.

Tadros is older than you. Unless you mean Tadros Jr.

  • He's also faster, and beats me on smaller gears when we've raced fixed TT.

Tadros Jnr. isn't quite there yet luckily.

  • No start sheet, just the TTF one. It'd be good for to arrive before 11am if I want to ride the hill right?

  • First rider is off at 10 no?
