@TurtleRecall The forks NOS are from eBay.
The guy selling them had about 10x sets and they were listed as:
CARBON/ALLOY CX HYBRID TOURING BIKE FORKS 700C - DISC BRAKE 1 1/8 32cm SteererI asked for further info and I received this:
The fork has a 320mm 1 1/8th steerer (Not tapered), accepts mudguards via top of crown and mounts on the bottom of the forks. It can take up too what looks like a 42C tyre. Axle to crown is 372mmWhen I received the forks, the steerer had 2007 Aprebic stamped on so my guess is that they are from an old Boardman Hybrid.
I mock fitted a 29er front wheel with 2.1" tyres and it fitted easily with space for a mudguard so the clearance is BIG. It is very likely that the seller measured the Axle to Crown incorrectly - looks more like 395mm than the 372mm he mentioned. This in turn might slightly skew the geo but we'll see.
@young_gun I am looking into the option of fitting a roller brake on the SRAM Automatix hub as they can take them apparently.
Online reviews show that the speed change happens way too soon (ie a low speed) so there are hacks to change it.Forks have been cut and star nut fitted.
Mock set up with 29er wheels and 2.1" tyres.
There is rubbing on the rear brake bridge so I will need to look at tyre options. -

So the rebuild has started, new disc forks have been cut, star nutted and fitted.
Tyres were too big so when for 700x32mm but in hindsight, 26" or 650B wheels would allow fatter tyres.
Fitted a new Copenhagen style front rack / combined handlebars but not sure how I feel about it. Definitely should have got black :-(
I need to order a new GXP BB as the one I took out is unfortunately threaded.
Then we'll be back on the road!

The beast is back in action!
Fitted:
- the new GXP bottom bracket;
- pedals ( thanks @NurseHolliday );
- #hailpizza #nltcbmbc top cap ( thanks @roboto )

- swept back bars.
It rides really nicely now and I will be putting it up for sale as I don't actually need it...
- the new GXP bottom bracket;
also please report back on the sram, been eyeing them for new commuter.
