Get the thermal blanket cover
It will work much better and use less fuel
Is that the Dan Boone?
They are fucking awesome
-
• #24107
It is. I have the cover but not the thermal blanket.
Might pick it up at some point.

Has anyone used a Big Green Egg?
I like the idea of it.
I'm doing a fairly substantial (by my standards) barbecue in August - 25-35 people. @dancing james any tips on what barbecue to get? I'm fairly competent with coal (just not at scale) and don't like using gas which cuts options down. Though maybe for that size I'd need gas throughout the day? Cooking mostly beef, chicken and lamb (no pork for shame :( ) potentially fish.

I'd go for the green mountain grill, it works for smoking and bbq and at a push grilling. It has temp control and wifi connectivity. The Weber or Green Egg would need the addition of a wifi PID to get similar levels of control.

Still can't comprehend a wifi barbecue.

I have fed 75 people with a wsm and a Weber kettle bbq and could do similar with the gmg
Green eggs do look good and are thermally quite stable from what I have read but a PID controller on a wsm will be better controlled.
But for ease of use the gmg wins.

Oli's is great, there's also a shop on the corner of St James Street and Southwark Park Road which is pretty much exactly the same as Oli's if you're over that way.
Ah new page fail on my part
Late to the party but everything is good. Depends what capacity you're going in?
If you want modern places designed for food bloggers they've got those in abundance. Turnover of restaurants is fast (faster than Singapore's food scene as they don't seem to settle) so chances are anything written here will be out of date by the time you're there - if that's the experience you're looking for.
If you're not too snobby then there's plenty of great and super cheap food (my preference was for Hokkien/Hainanese (Jalan/Lorong Petaling) and Southern Indian dishes (Brickfields/Bangsar - the latter is a bit of a trek from KL Sentral).
As @aggi said, try Jalan Alor. It is touristy but I still really like the theatre and shitness of it. It's a sweaty, stinky mess of a place at night and it's heaven. Rotten plastic chairs, dirty tables, cold (sometimes) beers, tanks full of fish and crabs, gas stoves doing their hardest and loads of stuffed, happy people.
