60$/kg is such a rip off
12-20€/kg for the best you can find in Italy. Hence probably 10/kg if you go wholesale and buy a whole wheel -

Reggiano and any other imported Italian smallgoods* are crazy expensive here... I've found a really good Italian Grana Padano that I use instead...
* That's what they call deli stuff here...

The Grana is equally good, sometime even better, less dry and less strong, and you can put more.

Probably kangaroo meat is also cheaper there compared to Italy :)

Anyone have any restaurant recommendations for Chicago? Staying near Old Town, but working at McCormick, and have metropass.

Didn't your lot add some bat shit high import tax on to Italian tinned tomatoes (like 1200% or something) recently?
-
• #24061
Looked it up and it was around 8%.

We've been having tacos for dinner a lot recently, so easy and so much fun...
Little bit of pico de gallo, some refried beans, leftover rice and some grilled chicken or fish and off you go... I grilled some squid and hoki tonight, it was bloody delicious and so healthy...

These refried beans, are you re-frying them yorselv or from a tin?
-
• #24071
Yeah... Little white corn tortillas, shove them on a hot skillet for a few seconds on each side and you're ready to go...
Not El Paso... Tho' I love those too! #guiltypleasures

Cooked from dried, mate!
I cook up a big batch then portion them up and keep them in the freezer for whenever I need them... I'd run out of black beans so used Borlottis, not very authentic but very tasty...

• #24073
Where a good place to get them?
-
• #24074
I buy them here in Oz, you must be able to find them out there... I get these...
