Liam won the Braunton 150, he is FAST. I rode non-stop, and if my knee hadn't blown up near the end I would have come in in 25 hoursish, he came in at 27 hours, with a 7 hour bivvy!

Javi's struggling according to twitter.

Oh, how I'd love to be able to actually sleep in a bivvy...
-

Seems to have got himself together, very close for 3rd place...

Javi, Lee Craigie and Ian Fitzpatrick cross together for joint 3rd place (with just a little doubt over Lee's routing earlier in the race, to be cleared up by the race organiser when he finishes no doubt...)

get a decent one. practice a few times, and you'll be fine.

How much was yours - 200 quid or something? I'm not paying that for a plastic bag :)
I've been trying variations of kit for a while now. None are very good. My next variation will get some use in a couple of weeks I guess.

I got my rab ascent off ebay for £50. BNWT. :)
Maybe just spend the money on hotels!

You should know me better. I'll be spending the money in bars and sleeping in toilets.

As long as it's not the other way around...

A week into this, I won't even know the difference.

500 riders, fuck that
-
• #517
Yeah. Video's a bit artsy but looks like a stunning area to ride. Could make a nice late-summer trip...
-
• #518
It's also properly pissing it down there at the moment.

Maybe for a 10h road event, but for 600km mountainbike event? if you have the legs, you won't get bothered by much riders after the first 5-10h.

Don't count on it. There was 170 riders on tour divide last year, first 3 days were too busy for my liking. 500+ riders would be hell. #misanthropic

misanthropic
Isn't that a basic requirement for ultracycling?
-

I suspect @hippy will argue "Then you need to ride harder"
:) just joking!
I'm with you that too much riders gets in the way of having fun, just because of the crowded controls, or just having to fear for your life in each descent because people don't overtake in a safe way, or let you overtake them so jams get created. But in my experience in massive starts, just keeping with the leaders wheel for the first hour or more will get you ahead of the big bunch and be able to enjoy a little more.

^ I think I'd still rather go ride it as an ITT or for the fun of it, imagine the food along the way is worth stopping for...

I actually just google that word to get the specific definition. I think I will get my name changed to it. Grumpy Von Misanthrope

just keeping with the leaders wheel for the first hour
That's what everyone is trying to do though :)
Still going strong! Going to be a drag along the Caledonian Canal on SS though...
No idea who this Liam Glen guy is but he started 2h late and has blazed through to the front of the pack! If Liam stops and Javi pulls an all-nighter he might just squeeze past him...
