I'm in enough clubs.
I want that stupid 10 record out of the way so I can focus on proper stuff.
-
• #13028
like 25's they're proper.
Just noticed a guy I beat on saturday did an 18:50 on the V the other week. So basically that means I've done an 18:30 on the V now.
Can I retire?
-
• #13029
25s are still too short. I'm having a shot at Etwall in a couple of weeks but probably won't ride any others.
-
• #13030
So, if I'm a minute slower than you, I've done a 19:30. That's my club record sorted then. Sweet.
-
• #13032
10's I can't do
Says the guy who came 3rd when sick and just won the last one he raced.
-
• #13033
Still, I won a 10 while training for the 24hr so I wonder how that makes all the guys that only race 10s feel... ;)

@skinny back roads are fine, its mostly downhill from HQ to the start - you basically finish there as well and there were loads of people milling around there a couple of years ago, so we left a bag with layers and some extra water for post race - helpful when trying to drag your ass up the hill post race to get back to HQ
-
• #13035
True. But ridden at the power I could probably ride for an hour.
Thanks @Sainsburys_Ed good to know. I was planning on going straight into the pub for a swift pint!
-
• #13036
Oh God, this last year. Bumped into Hippy at the end. Say bumped, I think I was crying on the floor.
-
• #13037
a good shout - although they didn't seem to know anything had been happening when we went in for lunch post race - so don't expect a well done, or a free pint!

Non ecca one https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/12019
I just stuck an entry in.
@umop3pisdn you keen?
-
• #13039
Not driving all that way for a 25!
-
• #13042
think I might do this one as well - all ride as LFGSS and see if we get close to the team prize (not sure its possible to chop and change cycle clubs like that though...?)
-
• #13043
I don't think it's that easy.
IIRC you are only allowed to race for your first claim club, and you are only able to change your first claim club once per season, so once you switch to LFGSS you'd be stuck until next year.

Preview: The Ron Brown Memorial 100 (29th May 2016)
For the second year in succession the Hounslow’s premier time trial promotion has got a full field plus ten reserves – what a change from the time, only a few years ago in 2009 when an entry of 95 was thought by the organiser to be ‘excellent’.
Adam Topham won this event for a record five consecutive years from 2011 to 2015, but has decided to leave the stage open to others in 2016, so there is no clear favourite in this strong field. Fastest on paper is Jon Wynn (T1 Diabetes.info) who will wear the prestigious race number 120, and he is clearly a man on good form since his most recent reported ride is a victory by nearly a minute in the CC Blaenau Gwent 25 on the eighth of May. However his qualifying time is just a single second better than Pete Harrison (GS Henley), no. 110, who was second in this event last year and won the Charlotteville 50 on this course just two weeks ago, his 1.42.59 in that event being a personal best. Another rider who may well be a contender is Charlie Mitchell (A3crg) who, with Dominic Irvine, broke the Lands End John O’Groats tandem record by a full five hours last year.
The Hounslow has a proud record of team victories in this event, and the club does have four strong riders in this year’s field: Stuart Hewlins, Nic Stagg, Loz Wintergold and Paul Holdsworth. However with a field of this quality they will need a measure of luck to take the prize this year. It should also be mentioned that the very long serving promoter of this event, Trevor Gilbert, has had to stand down for health reasons, and Jeff Marshall, the 1962 Ron Brown winner, has stepped in to fill the gap. We are sure that the club and all the past riders of this event would wish to give a vote of thanks to Trevor for all his work over many years.
The event is to be run on the usual Farnham – Alton course, with the HQ at Bentley village hall. First man off at 7.01 am.
I'd like to wish good luck to the one forum user whose name I recognise on the start sheet: Umop3pisdn. I believe his ride last year was his first attempt at the distance and he came within a gnat's whisker of beating the four hour barrier - on fixed! I'm confident that given reasonable conditions he will improve this year.
I hope there are other forum users in the field whose actual names are not familiar to me - if you're there I wish you good luck too.
You will have seen my comment on the organiser long connection with the event; I think it's worth adding that Jeff must have been out to almost every Hounslow 100 since he win, first as a contender-I think he may have had other wins, but I haven't got a complete list here- later as a team counter, then a helper and now as promoter. Possibly I should have posted this in the "How long can you go on" thread.
If you're not riding maybe you could go out to spectate - I hope some of you do.

A great piece of writing as usual: always a pleasure to read.
Looking forward to the race report!
-
• #13046
Indeed. I know a couple of riders who are taking part - there was a definite feeling of nervous anticipation when they were talking about it this evening.
-
• #13047
I'm there. Looking forward to it. Weather looks good.
Can you confirm if we should ride down the course to the start, as the start sheet seems to imply?

Rich B did a 46:54 on A25/11 last night in a club event, 11th on the all time list.
Hoping that Dowsett doesn't take the 25 record (although I have been asked to help out with his wheel choice for the weekend so I'm assuming he's going!), it'll go at some point but be nice to get Rich a comp record this year. He was rocking all the new AeroCoach kit (58t chainring, CFD suit, saddle) which is good!
-
• #13049
Will those 58T chainrings fit a 130bcd P2M? If yes, could you just pop one in the post for me, cheers :)
-
• #13050
I'm getting worried that once they go live the 58s will be in heavy demand (we have less of them than the 54s)! They'll be 130bcd single ring, yep. We can do other bcds on special order but it'll take a bit longer
I'll ask when I sign on. To confirm.
