I know difficult for a veggie
It's really not difficult to get enough protein from a vegetarian diet.

Thought I'd join the fat club.
A little history first.....I'm 57yo 6ft average build with skinny arms and legs....no real reason for me to be over 12st max.
I retired early back in March 2014....so lost my daily commute of 17mls.....still did a bit of riding but the weight piled on.....just because of lack of activity not over eating/drinking.
In fact I don't drink....well hardly....Anyway....July 2015 I was simply a fat bastard.....205 pounds, I thought enough!!
Over next 3 months I lost 42 lbs....very strict diet of just 125gr muesli and as many apples as i wanted per day. Didn't feel particularly well or strong but I lost a shit load of weight, which was the goal. Needless to say....it all went back on again :(
So I'm back on a more sensible diet....ish :) and more bike riding and trainer road.
My long term goals as regards riding/fitness are an FTP 3W/kg and to get my 10ml time to the VTTA std for my age......both someway off at the moment :)
But I think they're both realistic and achievable.15-Feb 215 pounds
17-May 198.6 poundsMy weight loss stalled at 206 lbs for most of Mar/Apr....I'd forgotten the importance of drinking plenty of water, once I started back on 3L/day the weight loss was almost immediate.

Thanks folks for all the responses. Eyebrows - some of those easily achievable for me, thanks.
More protein, less carbs. (this may as well be the motto for the whole day)
What's a good source of Protein for veggies that isn't Carb-tastic ? I started eating Cashews to get a bit more Protein, but they're also quite high in carbohydrates ?

Nuts are a great snack- but not a meal replacement- and should be eaten in massive moderation when on full diet mode- as they are almost absurdly high calorie food.
As Hingis says- Lentils and Beans are the go-to- as they are cheap, filling and balanced.
An example 15 minute dinner at ours is a variation on spanish chickpea and chorizo tapas thing, where you exclude the chorizo for mushrooms, and to get that lovely smokey flavor- add in smoked paprika. From start to being fully dished and washed up- is 10 mins:
Chickpea tin- open it partially at the bottom, and use as its own colander. Get some oil heating up. Diced Onion in. Garlic in. Diced Carrots in. Let them get brown with salt, pepper, oregano and smoked paprika. Chickpeas are next up, in and you should hear them pop eventually. Then mushrooms diced for the 'meaty texture'. Served over courgette spagetti (made using a box grater)- its great.Otherwise- its time to start loving tofu. Its simply a ridiculous source of protein and such a good flavor sponge.
As said before- look at the bean/ chickpea/ lentil alternative versions of pasta/ noodles- and use as you would the pasta/ noodles- they're not lower calories but some pack an almighty protein hit.
Finally- when you're in a rush and hungry- there is nothing better for time invested than an Omlette. 3 eggs (or sub whites for full eggs), cooked in butter-not oil- and done right there is nothing better- served over whatever you have available as a carb source and a salad at the side. Pretty much my favorite meal.

75.3kg this morning.
This is the lightest I've been in like 20 years. FTP is on the up too. All through training less. Just need to drop the last 300g, and find another 9w in 4 weeks.

Caveat - I do not actively try to lose wieght as am a scrawny fucker, but do monitor my weight as part of my training etc....
I appear to have lost about 3kg in a week. I was out riding a lot in the pyrenees last week (around 300-350 mountainous miles in 6 days) and ate well. This week has been a recovery week... when i got back i was about my normal weight, but this morning i'm all of a sudden 3kg lighter.
I use tanita scales, which are supposedly very reliable, and i';ve not experienced odd readings in the 9months i've had them. Is a 3kg sudden drop possible?!?! The scales have been stored upright rather than flat for a week to make a bit of space, that doesn't affect things does it? I typically keep them flat
-
• #10822
Yes. It's normal. Drink, eat and relax.
-
• #10823
What's 'normal', the sudden weight loss? I've never lost so much so quickly before. And 3kg for me is quite a big % of my total body weight, so it's a little concerning.
No chance for relaxation this weekend, I'm off to do the tour of wessex tomorrow... plenty of eating though....

Hungover this morning. Scales were nice to me when I stood on them, naturally went straight for a mcds breakfast
Not nearly as comprehensive as the other replies, but I've been trying to get rid of sugary exam-period snacks and have been going for the quorn savoury eggs or cocktail sausages. They're not the cheapest but couldn't be easier and are tasty enough too
