There are links to the rim strip you can buy off eBay.
Use stans goo, it works
If you have a punctured inner tube with a removable valve core you could try that. Though for road tubeless I'd want a bit more rubber at the shoulder so it doesn't get blown out by the higher pressure.

Road wheels? Stick with Stans everything and you can't go wrong

Yes road.
Thank you. -

Scwhalbe One on the rear of my workhorse bike gave up today, massive cut was intermittently sealing all morning. It reasealed for the afternoon with a massive sealant plug. But when I got home the plug of latex could be pulled out.
Again the tyre has done approx 6K miles. Fitted a S One to rear wheel so matching tyres f&r. It did not mount first time so again I put on another wrap of tubeless tape and it seated immediately.

I'd not recommend the stans valves. The gromit thing seemed to tear into the rim tape a bit too much, meaning it didn't seal very well - in fact it stopped sealing on the rear at all. I was given a different valve by an LBS which has a bigger gromit bit, and seems to work.

Stans valves have worked fine for me, I'm using the Stans threaded valve extenders on my carbon wheels too.

Stans valves here as well, working well

Stans have worked fine for me too

Got two new 44mm Stan vales here for sale.

The mavic UST valves might be worth a punt - if only to be different
-
• #162
You know what different sometimes means?
Incompatible.
-
• #163
I tried some Mavic UST valves in some tubeless ready Mavic SL's and they didn't work.
-
• #164
Tried it?
Look like valve stems with a block of rubber on the end...
I would volunteer but Tim has my UST wheels now

I'm now tubeless on both of my road bikes.
Pro One Evo 25mm on the fast bike and S-one 30mm on the winter bike.
Fuck off punctures >>>>>>

I'm having yet more problems with one of my wheels.
Bodge repair on the rim tape of a wheel failed at some point - I'd stuck gaffa over a bit. The sealant had loosened the stickiness of the gaffa, and eventually it came off. This exposed a spoke hole, presumably depressurising the tyre rapidly. This in turn meant the bead jumped off inwards, which took with it the good bits of stans rim tape, exposing more holes.
Now, is this a common problem? I've noticed the tyre bead catching on the rim tape when you push the tyre off before. Is there a fix for that? Not sure what I'm doing wrong really.
Anyway - gonna try my luck with gorilla tape this time. Will report back.
(q regarding gorilla tape while we're at it - one layer or two?) -

Generally a good idea to put the rim tape on and then mount a tyre with an inner tube at max pressure for a few hours. This will help seat the rim tape.
-
• #168
Yeah, that makes good sense. Will try that tomorrow.
-
• #169
Mounting the tape properly is a bit of an art.
I always clean the rims - with soap then with acetone - to give the tape a chance.
When I use gorilla I cut the tape so that it's wide enough to sit across the whole channel and then butt up against the side walls. So that it won't get pushed inwards with the tyre when / if it comes off.

Yep, saw a vid last night that said much the same wrt tape width. Don't think the Stan's I used before was quite wide enough.
I've got the normal gaffer-esque gorilla, and a clear one which looks a bit like the stan's. I reckon the gaffer type one will be a bit more stretchy, and so fit in the channel a bit better? -
• #171
Yeah I always by the Stans tape which is wide enough to fully cover the rim bed. Use two layers of tape.
-
• #172
Gorilla tape is holding. Tore it a tiny bit wider than the internal width, then sliced it with a scalpel to fit exactly once it was stuck down.

Will be setting up Schwalbe Procore tomorrow on my rear wheel. Air guide just arrived from Rose Bikes. Bought only the inner tube, the inner tyre, and the air guide as I didn't want the full kit for two wheels.
Many, many expensive. -
• #174
Anyone has tubelessed wired WTB nanos?
-
• #175
Schwalbe Procore fitted. The inner tyre was a bloody tight fit, and having the inner tube and tyre made fitting the actual tyre difficult. But after some mandatory faffage the whole thing is done. Shall be testing out properly tomorrow.
How about valves, goo, rim strips.
what do I need? what to get?
