Only ridden the bike 4 times and been okay. If the chain is correctly tensioned is there any reason for it to drop the front ring?

I don't think so on theory, but chain catchers exist, and I'm building a 1-by setup myself so just wanted to see if you'd had any issues.

Good point, I think 99% of the time my chain's falling off the chainring its by using the front mech. Will see how I get on.

Been admiring this build the whole way through. Magnificent bike, magnificently built. Wish it had space for mudguards though.

I've run 1x on my Lambert fine without catcher or fancy chainring, that includes hopping up and down kerbs and general tomfoolery. Wouldn't worry about it.

Build looks great btw reminds me of my Argos but with gears. Think I will de sticker and class up the lambert now to make a rougher version of this.

After riding the bike for a few days I'm really enjoying it although got an idea of a few things to change. Nice to have something non-cycling folk appreciate just because of the classic look. Thinking of changing:

• Smaller TA chainring
  
• Panaracer Pasela 28c tyres (currently 25c)
  
• MKS Touring pedals, prefer something that works both sides for maximum relaxed-ness
  
• Swiss Stop pads
  
  

Oh and totally gutted to see Tweed Run tickets had be released and sold out whilst away on holiday.

Have you considered a wider cassette? That chainring looks spot on.

If you would consider selling your paselas I am looking for a 25c set :-)

Very temping but will keep these for the Cannondale I think.

28c tyres fitted without any issues and Tweed Run ticket bought, result. Tyres don't rub but pretty confident 28c is the widest I'll be able to fit.

Thanks Ed, there isn't miles of front brake cable to play with but good shout.

The new cassette is 14-28 which feels great, certainly wasn't using the 11t cog before.

Treating me well thanks. Gave @jtrent90 of BIGxTOP fame the go ahead on a large rando bag last night, will be dark navy with leather colour piping - in the style of the classic Gilles Berthoud bags. Quite excited about this.

Still need some MKS touring pedals, missing mine not being flat on both sides and may even revert to the suede bar tape (sorry!). Just feeling like the leather is a little too slippery. But yeah really pleased with this.
