Next Q - what was the name of the dude on here who sometimes offered to deliver/collect items for the cost of his train ticket? There was a thread a while ago but I can't seem to find it
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/146326/
I think he may not be offering it at the moment, but you can always ask.

Always used straps and cages when I'm not using cleats.
Am I doing it wrong? Should I be using holdfast style straps? They look like you can get more power and wont wear out as fast. Not for fixed wheel I should add. -

Am I doing it wrong?
Depends who you ask

Blimey!
Don't agree with that article one bit. -

Stop the presses! Some random guy on the internet disagrees with Grant Petersen!

What do you need, from where to where? I have an epic amount of free time while I'm unemployed.

The funny thing is that Specialized/Trek/Giant are now selling us this radical new concept of Gravel Bike, which is basically what Grant Petersen has been saying we all need for most of our cycling needs all along.

He's a freak but what the mainstream was offering when he came on the scene seemed to require a radical departure.

Anyone here know the axle-to-crown measurement of the Kaffenback 2 forks?
-
• #74539
Will you be wearing Crocs and wooly socks at the Wobbly Wheelers 25, or will the aero losses not balance the improved comfort and efficiency? Has Mr Petersen been arrested by the Fashion Police yet?

A bike taking to Manchester. Looks like senditnow will do it for a score, so I think that's my best bet, doubt any train will be cheaper!

I agree. That article ignores float. If you're using grippy shoes on platform pedals you can't let your heel drift horizontally through the pedal stroke. Also, you can't exert as much force backwards through the bottom of the pedal stroke. Having said that I think it's quite nice on a long ride to be able to unclip if you want to so Shimano M324 or something similar seem like a good compromise. They also allow you to ride in whatever shoes you like if being able to walk around at the end of the ride is more important than the ride itself. Also the "Your feet learn to pedal in circles, because they aren't forced to." reasoning is shaky.

Who wants to strip my bike down, clean it properly, and reassemble it?
-
• #74544
I think I'd have performed better that day if I'd also not taken a wrong turn and ridden a 106mi time trial. Still, I'd rather get a time for 106 miles than have my time scrubbed for riding 99 miles, so there's that.

Same as the pompino?

The London Cycle Workshop do this for £75 labour, including removing the bottom bracket.

Super cheap, do it

How do I work out how large a cassette I can have on my bike. 105 deraullier that currently has an 12-27 on it (50/34) at the front. I'd like to go with an 11-32 but am I going to run into shifting problems?

Edited after some bad maths and incorrect numbers...
Assuming mid cage 10 speed 105 mech, specs say...
Maximum low sprocket 28t
Maximum front difference 22T, total capacity (chain wrap) 39tChain wrap = (large chainring – small chainring) + (large rear cog – small rear cog)
(50-34) + (32-11) = 37
37 < 39 so the chain wrap works, but 32 > 28t max low sprocket so you might run into trouble there.
Thanks, just signed up.
