@hippy have you talked to any TransAm finisher (that is also not rich) from Europe about how they managed it? Take for example the post from @CarlosBI (Spain) about his costs and how he managed to finance less than 19% http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&sl=es&tl=en&u=http://biziosona.com/2015/05/04/preparando-la-transam/

Everyone has different budgets. Some guys slept rough almost every night and some guys probably used a lot of hotels. I've not even done a budget yet - I was just gonna burn money (not in the National Parks of course) :)

Yep, applying for lots of credit cards. Once in a life time etc. Have only 2 weeks holiday left (I know, already) so am lying to work about how long this will take.

Assuming it fits, I'm getting more tempted by @amey 's suggestion of a Genesis Datum. #godhelpus
The way I see it, buying one of the Specialized Diverge bikes (because they won't sell the frameset in the UK) means I immediately have to sell off an unused groupset and wheels = ballache, whereas the Datum is available as a £1000 frameset (or £3200 bike already running the Di2 and hydro which I want but the frame colour is naff).
The Pivot Vault frameset is £800 more than the Datum frameset - is it £800 better?

But what about the long fork for ride quality?

Too much seatpost. Too much yellow. Too much pink.
Who's bike is that?

I'll just wait until the guys with the ties copy this. Not to concerned with delivery times.

Im toying with idea of either a Spesh Roubaix s works (found an unused credit card) or a Vamoots. Lead time on the Moots scares me though as does the lazy-faire attitude of the supplying bike shop.

Have you tried Mosquito for Moots? They are cool!

Another option to look at would be a Bowman Pilgrims. Really great bikes, although I'm a bit biased knowing the owner!
If you're interested give them a shout as they can organise test rides in some sizes so you can make your own mind up

Argh, I need fewer options, not more!
:P Cheers, I'll have a look. Looks like what Paul Buckley rides.

Had heard negative feedback on Mossie bikes previously?
Daccordi- I like the idea of a Brit bike will look into it Ta. -
