Yep. The are around Holborn got branded as midtown about ten years ago. Memorably, Proctor St had a huge banner declaring it "midtown's most exciting new street".

It was neither new nor exciting.

But now you have someone else's shower to hose down your 'cross bike in, before spraying GT85 and chain lube all over the floor

Spotted about 2 weeks ago. I was unlocking my bike to leave and he locked up like that next to me, he said his lock broke so he had been doing that for a few days. Needed to make a phone call so waited 10min for him to get his shopping and return.

Now with even more integrity.

The Sheldon method of locking your bike has another downside:

People bumping into your bike, shoving it around or even having a kick at it, will bend your rear wheel out of true, or even break it to the point where you need a new rim.

It's more annoying that it's going to be in the way for anyone trying to use the bus stop.

Indeed, I was just surprised it was still there two hours later with the saddle still attached to the bike...

I pass this full-Campagnolo Colnago Master every day. Considering chewing through the lock and selling the bike on Ebay.

Even if the police caught me, as a first-time offender I reckon I'd get off with a fine. And I reckon the proceeds from selling the bike would easily leave me in profit.

Warning - my pal has seen some racks having been cut in Camberwell...

...if you have the gear to cut a rack, why not cut the lock instead? You're going to have to do it anyway...

There might be enough movement to squeeze a lock out, if someone locks up without noticing then it can be taken quite quickly and have the lock cut off later.

Happened in Bristol outside the Canteen a few months back, my mate's new Fuji got nabbed.
