My lunch today was anything but radical, totally didn't fill the hole. Cucmber pasta* doesn't work, don't try it.
*Not cucumber & pasta

All I'm saying is look at the studies. The new studies, not the ones that are sponsored by the magic potion producers that sponsor the tri magazine.

I tried their Harissa chicken broth pot thing last week, had me farting for bloody hours. WTF do they put in it?

I have a cupboard full of suppliments to justify.
I'm overdosing on vitamins at the moment in an attempt to up my odds of avoiding sickness. Maybe I'm fooling myself. But anythings Worth a shot at this time of year up here. Its build time. So negative TSB. Pluss its cold season. Not a great combo. The more serious cyclists I know up here, even avoid training outside. Me, I stick to vitamins and snowbiking. Seems to work OK.

Studies also show people taking multivits live less than people who don't. I love science.

I definitely go for balanced diet first. Then, well, suppliment. Which probably means I wee out most of the extra shit I take. Should really bottle my piss.
My 'sports nutrition' cupboard is mostly gels, protein, and hydration tabs to be honest. Although I do have a bit of a berroca habit.
4 boxes - gels
2 bulk packets - skratch labs hydration powder
2 boxes - hydration tabs
1 Box - beetroot flapjacks
10 tubes - berroca
1 Box - recovery powder sachets
4 bottles - cod liver oil
2 tubs - ZMAs
2 tubs - CLAs
2 tubs - magnesium
30 - homemade flapjacks.
4kg tub whey protein.I tend to Stock up hen I see stuff on clearance. I should eat less gels. But I seem to have a massive lack of talent when it comes to fueling my base training.

Someone actually noticed and commented that I had lost weight today, a little vain but won't deny I was a bit pleased.

How did they phrase it? I once got, "you look a little less fat", that wasn't so good. The other extreme was from one of the guys at the rugby club after he hadn't seen me for a long time and I had lost the 25kg - "What the fuck happened to you, cancerous aids???"

He was quite positive about it, I know him to be quite a genuine person. I know what you mean though, sometimes people can be a bit, "wow you used to look gross before, didn't want to mention it"

My old boss once said to me "have you lost weight, your face looks less fat". Not thinner, just less fat. Thanks.

Shunning booze, sugar, and riding your bike more is quite good for weight loss apparently. I've lost 7.3 kg since Jan 3. I did drink A LOT and could easily sit and demolish a family size bag of sweets in one sitting. I do have to say without booze and sugar, the daily grind of London life is seemingly more boring. Need more vices.
Huge booze-a-thon for Chinese New Year caused spike above.

An old friend told me once that eating a sensible breakfast was important to dropping weight. Have been trying hard to have something like a few blueberrys and yoghurt before leaving for work over the last coupla weeks, I'm up well before 5 so can't spend much time on it before leaving for work. Must say it seems to work - have lost a few kilo's. I used to eat pretty much in the evenings only before.
The low carb thing seems to work as well - I'd imagine it's different for everyone though.
In summary friends, I think the time of day when you eat has some bearing, works for me at least. -

I have a 'weekend' switch where focus and willpower disappear and I start drinking and eating pizzas like the world's ending.

I wish I could offer less boring advice, but pre-logging food into my fatness pal for the weekend, and making it food that I think of as treat-esque without it being super calorie dense (like sushi, pho, curry) has been useful for me.
Not that I am a good person to advise on weight loss, I'm still trying to get rid of the 6kg I put on during November and December.

If you spend a lot of weekend time riding long distances at excessive speeds and eating accordingly, then maybe you've developed a Pavlovian response to weekends.

Well done! You should be really proud.
I'm a polymer scientist. In my job adding free radicals to stuff causes it to decompose quick smart. Thats how flame retardents work. Bit of heat from flame, free radicals formed, plastic turns to mush, flame dies.
I dont want to become mush!
