• Cheers. I've just noticed the Session is on Amazon.fr at £140 odd, can't lie and say the price-point is appealing. Hero 3 White is also an option at £149 and comes with an extra battery to boot.

  • What are the options for mounting a go pro on 26mm bars? Something with a quick release or similar would be ideal as the bike is locked up.

  • A 31.8 mount with a couple wraps of inner tube under it?

    That's what I'm doing.

Mount stays on the handlebar and I just undo the screw mount thingy.

  • Cool - I have a 31.8 mm one that I paid through the nose for so it makes sense to try that. I had a go shimming with bar tape but it didn't work, maybe I'll have more luck with an inner

  • Which are you gonna go for? Been Umm'g for days and still no idea.

  • My Contour HD is getting seriously old, and was never much cop quality wise.

Is there anything out there GoPro quality but in a form factor that doesnt look so stupid stuck on a helmet e.g. Contour style?

  • Still unsure but thinking of saying 'fuck it' and go for the Hero 4 Silver. Only reasons I'm probably not going for the Session are lack of removable battery and fearing the casing would be enough to survive a ball if the lens gets hit directly. Meanwhile if Dale Steyn can't break one in it's housing at 80mph odd then I'm mildly more confident. TomTom Bandit also unsure about how it'd cope.

  • Yeah, just bought a Hero 4 Silver on Amazon. The 'Adventure' Edition is on sale with a 32gb SD card included, my eyes suggest it's exactly the same as the regular Silver, but maybe a mount or two extra? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015JHPAOO/?tag=ho01f-21

  • What software is everyone using to edit their helmet cam footage? Especially interested to hear from GoPro Hero 4 users and people with macs.

I've been using iMovie (10.0.9) but struggling to get the results I want.

    I watched this
    and this
and just thought, my footage isn't half as sharp and clear as that - yeah I know, NYC sunlight versus Scottish winter cloud cover etc - so I shot a lot of footage today on the 4k setting but realise now that the max res for an iMovie export is 1080 so not much point shooting at 4k.

Another problem I'm having with iMovie is that playback in iMovie is very choppy. Both for clips I've shot at 1080 and at 4k.

My machine is a late 2008 iMac with 4gb ram, Apple says this is the max I can fit but there seems to be some reports of being able to fit 6gb. Anyone know if the extra 2gb is worth it or am I just asking too much of an aging machine?

I tried GoPro studio when I got my camera at first but the GoPro Studio Importer thing drove me crazy, that said, the iMovie library thing isn't great either, I'd really rather be able to see my clips than have them hidden away and only accessible through iMovie.

I guess I need to be realistic and realise that given my end result is generally going to be upload to youtube, I don't really need super duper quality.

  • Got a Shimano Sports Camera (in unopened box) - was a gift - but i am not into this whole filming stuff. Let this go for 150,- EUR - so if anyone is interested - drop me a PM. Sorry wrong thread...

  • Just ordered a pair of SJCAM SJ5000X.

  • A friend has started a new business venture and has created a nifty wee camera mount for your bike axle, thought some of you may be interested.

see more below, think it launches in about a month!

What happens if you clip the camera? broken camera, broken Nut-r, bent skewer?

  • Not sure, don't exactly know what the standards it adheres to consist of so don't know if it is designed to fail in a certain way to avoid damage/injury or if it is stiff enough to be considered part of the wheel assembly, in which case you could end up with a broken camera or it may throw off your steerer. It looks like it's designed for road use primarily (well that's what all the pictures are of so far, that and Greig who designed it is very much a road bike rider) so I think the chances of clipping something are minimized. I wouldn't use it offroad as that would just be asking for trouble!

  • This has probably been discussed before some pages back, but its friday and I am lazy... anyone uses one of these GoPro copy cat cheap stuff? I have a hero 3 which I am pretty happy with mounting on the front of my bike, but I would like a 2nd cam for the back but cant really afford another GoPro...

  • If you really have to go for one of the knock offs, I'd say at least go for an SJCAM branded one but even then, in my experience (2xSJCAM M10s) the build quality and sound recording quality leaves a lot to be desired.

  • I was looking at the M10 last night, about £50 I am willing to accept substandard... ;-)

  • So I've got an SJCAM M10+ mounted below my bars, just to one side of my stem. All good, but I guess there's EM interference or something which affects my Garmin 500 (on an out front mount), really messes up GPS tracking.

Any idea how I can shield the camera or Garmin better? I'd rather not have the camera above the bars or off to one side...

  • Fair enough, I got my 1st one replaced under warranty. I bought from Banggood, they seemed pretty decent at dealing with it.

  • You can get the m10+ from aliexpress for a little over 60 quid. Does 30fps 2k video.

Seems good so far, apart from the emi issue...

  • Right so I have my mind set on the M10, just the standard one will do I think, as it's just for recording my commute in case an asshole bumps me from behind (it happened last year and the police did fuck all). My question is, are there knock off of knock off? As in copies of SJCAM? As the prices seem vary a lot... This sounds about right in terms of price??

  • Yes, loads of fakes.

  • My machine is a late 2008 iMac with 4gb ram.

    This is why.
