Anyone seen The Lady in the Van?
It was filmed just up the road, so I suppose I ought to go and see it. -

Spectre was a really enjoyable film but I felt like they could have dragged out the bad guy for a couple more films. Wrapped it all up a bit too neatly for my liking.

We finally got to see Amy on DVD. Remarkable film making. I loved every second of it, and not embarrassed to confess crying at moments.
Thinking of my cousin who battled with family, drug addiction, prison, rehab, social interaction, living in Camden Townhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzsRZx5gzWg
RIP xx

True Romance tonight on the big screen. Seen it times but it's a great film

I always get True Romance and True Lies confused. I'm not sure if this is a Freudian issue or not.

True Romance is cool... but I used to get it confused with Natural Born Killers and I don't know why.
Just watched Intacto (2001), kinda alright. Totally watchable, but maybe forgettable.
Last night watched '71 (2014), pretty okay, not a bad film by any account, and no need to suspend disbelief too bad.
Also watched Harsh Times (2005), really brutal. Quite excellent but totally depressing.
Talking of depressing, Philadelphia (1993) with Tom Hanks and a very young looking Antonio Banderas. After Silent Running (1972) the other day I kept on the dystopian fix with Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970).
I don't think I've watched anything lighthearted since watching the first three Taxi films (1998, 2000, 2003). Kinda awesome film on the more serious side of driving, the old Le Mans (1971) with Steve McQueen.
Can't remember everything else from this past week....The Last Metro (1980) was quite good, but, Depardieu.
Anyone who needs a laugh should watch GYO: Tokyo Fish Attack (2012).

Same. I still do.

Watched Layer Cake which I didn't enjoy as much as Lock Stock.
Also watched Midnight in Paris which was lovely. -

Beyond the black rainbow...its SLOW. A mix of influences (dharma initiative meets 80s visuals meets sadistic main character) and good low budget cinematography, let's see if it delivers story wise.
Not that I mind a bit of form over function but one can go too far there :)
A mixed bag, interesting moments in the middle with some great visuals, slow start (with asshole lead) and so-so ending. Still worth a watch if you don't mind flawed movies with interesting imagery.

Bridge of Spies: 8.5/10

I'm definitely looking forward to Star Wars, but jeeze, the amount of marketing/merchandise is getting a bit much.
-
• #12118
I don't mind the marketing and merchandise, it's just the thought that someone's made an actual film from that crap that bothers me.

It seems to be everywhere. Each time I see a picture/clip/cardboard cutout of that R2D2-ish robot built like a ball, I can't help wondering how it wouldn't end up scratched and dented to fuck, and covered in shit.
I know I'm over thinking it, but it seems totally impractical. Maybe the big reveal at the end will have the ball breaking open to show it's operated by a gigantic space-hamster. -

The ending is a total cop-out. But yes, has some nice influences and the soundtrack is pretty creepy in a good way:

It's barely got going yet. Lucas were amateurs at exploiting their intellectual property compared to Disney.
