  • I take everything seriously, including my excessive eating and drinking. :)*

    *serious smiley.

  • Don't you think cycling helps with the stress/frustration bit when you're actually doing it though?

Absolutely. I'm a nightmare to be around if I have more than about two days off the bike. But there's a big difference between riding to release stress/release endorphins and training/hurting your legs.

You just have to listen to your body and know when it can take the stress of training and when it can't.

  • And all that @skinny said about caffeine/booze/diet is spot on. I take absolutely no notice of it however. I know I'd feel loads better if I did, but I'm an idiot.

  • The thought of giving up caffeine is actually far more depressing than giving up booze atm... that first up of coffee in the morning. Yum.

thanks for the advice y'all, appreciated!

  • Mmm instant decaf...

  • Mmm instant decaf...

I feel a metric fuckton better having given up most caffeine (decaf still has 5%-10% of normal coffee caffeine levels).

  • You didn't come across that weirdo when I saw you in Wimbledon earlier this year.

  • Every boozer and coffee freak I know had a very good season.

  • @hippy the exception to the rule.

  • I PBd every distance except 12hr and 24hr, second in a National champs and drank maybe 800-1000 different beers this year. Maybe half a kilo of caffeine to wash that down. All good in the hood. :)

  • Longish intervals on turbo (i.e. 30 mins or so) - how do you hold off the boredom?

Am planning on a long-ish session later as opposed to going outdoors and mucking about in traffic getting out of Crystal Palace, but my Eurosport recordings are running low and haven't had a chance to mix up my mp3 player for a bit, so need all the tips i can get!

  • how do you hold off the boredom?

Music. Whatever music you can completely zone out to.

For me it's either trance or big orchestral film scores. Personal though innit.

  • You didn't come across that weirdo when I saw you in Wimbledon earlier this year.

I'm not in Audax mode at the moment, which helps. Cycling is so much easier than running. I'll be back in Audax mode for 2017 hopefully.

Plus Hummers was there and everyone else seems bland and average compared to him. He scares me.

  • Wow, classical! You've got more panache than me. I need something fast and involved to get me going

  • @jim1985 I've just started using trainer road and I find that it with a podcast work really well together. Might start on Serial soon.

  • ^ Manic Miner.

  • Not any classical, but something like the Interstellar soundtrack is great and driving. The Tron Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk was pretty good too. Anyway, as said, it's anything you can properly zone out to.

  • Had toyed with the idea of a podcast, but may find it a bit slow moving (i've listened to radio before and it dragged).... what type of stuff do you mean, a music podcast or a conversational one?

  • Fucking turbo tyre punctured.
    Fixed it.
    Punctured again.
Fixed it, and added a second layer of rim tape to turbo wheel.
    Held pressure.
    Started training.
    Di2 dead.
    FFFFUUUU.
    Junction A in stem.
No hands, Single speeded the workout.

  • Interestingly I recorded some of the music for Interstellar.

  • Too many slow bits. I prefer it all a bit more consistent.

Generally chop and change between metal and techno depending on mood.

  • Amazing. I absolutely love that soundtrack! Details please.

  • I'm a classical musician and I was on some of the recording sessions at Air Studios.
