"We have had some players come to us at Arsenal from other clubs abroad and their red blood cell count has been abnormally high," he said at the time.

"We have had some players come to us at Arsenal from other clubs abroad and their red blood cell count has been abnormally high,"
Irony coming from the manager of the team that's often described as the least fit, with the most outdated training programme, and often the team carrying the most injuries.

You have a citation for this or just make this up?

Standard Sport recently revealed that Arsenal’s injury record up until 2014 was the worst of the top-flight’s leading clubs.

But it seems that even the appointment of the new fitness coach (Shad) hasn't helped. Lots more if you search for things like "Arsenal injury fitness", or "Arsenal Raymond Verheijen" who seems to have a bee in his bonnet about Wenger.

The biggest irony being that Wenger created the fittest squad and introduced the most up to date training techniques at the beginning of his Arsenal career.
A proper cycling fan will need to help me out here but I seem to remember that one of the journalists who went after Armstrong mentioned that he had seen a lot of sinister things going on in football. Football names linked to cycling doctors etc.
I am fully expecting a doping scandal in football. The drug testing windows are fairly predictable and very infrequent. I can't believe that football is somehow noble enough not to take advantage of substances that might speed up your recovery between matches.

If only Cliveo were here....
I seem to remember there being "vitamin injections" when Arsene arrived.

I remember that too although I always thought it was declared by the club as a demonstration of how advanced their training was at the time. Who knows.
Lets face it, if anybody was doped to the eyeballs last year it was Chelsea and now they have introduced blood testing they've all had to stop and now look how they're doing :D

Or Barcelona.
Wait. WAHT? -

Operation Puerto found and then ordered the destruction of 211 bags of blood linked to all sports (including football). Those bags have yet to be destroyed because the court order to destroy them is mired in the appeals process. It appears that the Spanish courts would rather bury the evidence than risk the national team being stripped of titles.

I always wondered how Xavi and Iniesta became phenomenal athletes.

Either everybody should dope or nobody.
It's only not fair when some do and some don't.

Either everybody should dope or nobody.
The problem with allowing it is that you're then effectively encouraging something which will inevitably lead to huge health problems and possible premature death.
(The parallel with alcohol/tobacco/drugs doesn't follow as there's no huge possible reward of £250k weekly salaries for people who binge on those.)

Everybody should be forced to smoke a massive bong of potent skunk before taking part in any sporting event

Sepp Blatter's sudden bout of infirmity - sad impact of stress on an elderly gentleman or snide cunt's trick to get out of a spell of pick-up-the-soap in chokey?

Arsenal injury problems are occasionally connected to the pitch, it's semi synthetic.

Yes, but if you look at the list of clubs that use the same playing surface it begins to look like a unlikely explanation.
