Nice one, you should have a lot of fun. Really interesting around there.
If you want I can send you a link of how to get from Erith (the last usable river path) around to Gravesend without all the horrible stuff (or hills).
I did lots of research for both ISLE OF GRAIN and DEAL WITH IT (which are so good they will be run annually).

Yeah it does.
I doubt I can come - but any idea of mileage? -
• #22
I'd be up for this. How long are you planning on spending at each fort ? I'd be bringing the camera along but I wouldn't want to hold up the group.
Also is it 23c friendly ?

@hoefla would be great if you could come but I realise sometimes work comes first.
It will be about 30 miles but the main idea is to look at the Forts so @juiceb0x no worries about bringing the camera
The route will be mainly on foot paths on the top of the flood wall/dyke so will leave you to decide whether 23c OK -

Should get to gravesend 9.47. And will be on 23c crabon, so we can shake, rattle and roll together :) .
Anyone up for an adventure?
I have cycled the Thames to Dartford and Gravesend quite a few times and to be honest the bit from Dartford to Gravesend is so bad have not managed to go further than Gravesend but the further Hoo Peninsular and Isle of Grain looks really interesting even if most of it is on a footpath.
So that is the adventure, take the train to Gravesend then cycle round the peninsular visiting New Tavern Fort, Shornemead Fort, Cliffe Fort, Lower Hope Battery, Bough Fort, Grain Fort and if we get there on time around for the tide 4:00 Grain Tower.
Meet at Lewisham station for the 8:57 to Gravesend arriving at 9:36
More on Hoo Peninsular here
