Lots of unsupported rim.

how about the old shamal? aren't them aero?
With a 19/20c tyre, they're still very fast at zero (potentially faster than a Zipp 808 FC).
As it happens I'm about to sell one, if anyone's interested? Clincher.

That's what @svendhöek was talking about, assuming he knows what he's talking about
-
• #1055
Why isn't it used more often?
Rolf patent. AFAIK Shimano licensed it for a while, but the benefits are not huge and if you use it everybody just thinks you're using Rolf wheels :-)

Were the 7700 the ones Paul Lew says he worked on in that Rouleur article? Bit Rolfy

Ha, what tester says

Does he still ride that setup? I can only recall seeing a red thing.
Anyway, can't trust a TTer without a sperm hat on. No sperm hat. No talk.

• #1062
I really shouldn't know this, but the Isaac has bottle cages mounts so he rides that for the long stuff. P3T doesn't.
-
• #1063
.. and yet there ain't no bottles on dat.
-
• #1064
Presumably from a short distance TT before he got the P3T. Jeez, do you even stalk bro?
-
• #1065
I don't give a fuck what other people do. I'm far too self-obsessed for that. Besides most TTF threads make my ears bleed after page 2.

I tested the Vector pro (with a 21mm tyre) and it was shit! Narrower might have been better but a H3 was way faster

H3 was way faster
I don't think anybody suggests that the Rolf can compete with a Hed3, it's for people who struggle with the H3 or other deep wheels in cross winds.
-
• #1068
Certain TT forum members have claimed it's as fast as a Hed3

Maybe they need to change their fork :-)

Great.. Thanks for the info. Have you tested flo 30 or zipp 101 (......or pacenti sl 23, velocity Quill, dt r460, kinlin xc279...0oO...... === 24mm wide x 24-30mm high rounded profile).
Any of the newer aeroish alu rims?
-
• #1071
Deep alu rim doesn't necessarily equal aero.

Out of interest, anyone know the equations needed for calculating the reduction in watts or increase in speed for change in cda. Because I don't want to work them out.
This looks way simpler! http://www.gribble.org/cycling/power_v_speed.html

Switching to imperial units still gives power in Watts. I am disappoint. James Watt even defined the standardised Imperial Horsepower
I want that frame...
