  • 1 bottle, 1 bottle cage to make perfect ;)

  • I've heard of people running 27mm Pave's on Supersix's.

I've never tried it personally, mine was tight enough on 25s (as discussed a couple of pages ago)

  • biggest tyres on a CAAD8 with stock wheels?
guessin a 25 may be tight?

  • The UCI would have a problem with me racing on it.

  • Looks lovely! (My opinion clouded by my own black caad 10)

  • respectttt

just in time for winter :)

  • I know right. I've got a CAADX on the way...

  • you are an absolute tart

  • I'd always wanted a raw Cannondale or a matt black one. The old frame was a good mix. I've now got the black one sorted so it makes sense to get a raw one as well.

  • The MTB peoples of Peaslake were equally horrified and intrigued by my new, Lefty equipped crabon F-SI.

  • Never had a carbon frame and curious about its strength. Seen videos on YouTube of hammers etc, but not exactly representative of real-life use, and I guess the pro peleton get on crashed bikes and ride them to the finish, but are those bikes then used again afterwards? How many bumps and knocks can they take, short of a full on crash? SuperSix for example.

Another cyclist pulled out in front of me and then stopped at a roundabout, so I bumped their back wheel, but not fast, and managed to unclip and get my foot down without falling over. Nothing to worry about I'm sure.

Aksium wheelset is holding up nicely too. Surprised with 20 spokes compared to the 32 I usually have.

  • The ballistec stuff is supposed to be nails. Who knows though. Might rig up a ghetto downtube frame protector out of an old inner tube.

  • Oh yeah, I remember now. Military spec or something. Why DT instead of TT?

  • Rocks striking the DT can be an issue with MTBs

  • Ah of course.

"The resins we use are High Strength, High Impact resins similar to what is used in the construction of carbon baseball bats"

    "SPEED SAVE Fork
This 315 gram fork features full BallisTec carbon construction"

Probably nothing to worry about then...

  • I will make better picture, promess !
I really like also the Caad 10

They sell them at over-inflated prices to suckers as ex-team bikes.

You are joking, right? I'm pretty anal about my bikes, but bumping someone's tyre?

  • @ChrisMGS modern carbon is pretty damn tough. Tbh I wouldn't worry about any crash that wouldn't put a dent in a steel frame.

I'm not entirely sure where the carbon-is-feeble common knowledge came from. You still see plenty of early carbon frames in daily usage. It's probably due to the failure profile rather than the actual impact resistance.

  • I initally read that as it being an intentional act, but I think it's just the way the sentence has been written and it was an accident. i.e You probably wouldn't intentially bump into someone else if you weren't sure you'd be able to unclip in time.

I didn't think he did it intentionally, just surprised that he thought it would damage his bike.

  • Looks like I interpreted your post incorrectly then.

    Meta-confusion.

  • Sorry for the confusion. I didn't bump them on purpose. They stopped in front of me at a 90deg angle and I rode into the side of their back wheel, not fast. Just never had carbon before, plus I'm big and heavy, so wanted to check.

  • I had 2 x Supersix HM frames (2013 model) delivered with faulty rear dropouts, with 25s in it was clear they weren't straight (less obvious with 23s). Whilst negotiating with the shop to get them to send me a non-faulty frame they told me that Cannondale would invalidate the warranty if I was running 25s on it, I guess that remains the case with all models until this years redesign... I now run 23s on reasonably wide rims which sit fine.
