  • I signed up for BT TV nearly 2 years ago,
reckoning the 'free' Youview box would be cheaper than buying outright.
Initially attracted by the BT/ESPN Baseball coverage,
then delighted by the UK Eurosport cycling coverage, (all the adverts initially stated it was only the premium UKEurosportHD channels that would have live coverage).
You have to keep up with the Channel changes, ( no end of 'new' QVC type channels to be deleted).
It's no S4y Atlantic but the BT/AMC channel shows Bt are trying to compete with 'original drama'.
The Youview box developped a pink/purplish background tint that no calls to Customer services in India could remedy. An email to the CEO's office brought a swift response of a replacement box 'in the post'.
Over the air updates of the Youview box have caused preset record requests to be lost,
and, the 'internet only' channels have disappeared, but a power cycle of the YouView box and the BT HomeHub5 have always resurrected them.
    8/10 would subscribe again.

  • 32 inch?
I stayed out of the flatscreen tvs on prncipal,
    too power hungry, (plasma),
    2 year warranty,
    sloth,
convincing myself I didn't watch that much TV,
but like you with 'widescreen' broadcasts leaving black bands top'n'bottom on our old 22 inch 4:3 Toshiba, none of us could see the miniscule text during sport.
Eventually cracked and was looking for about a 40 inch to fit chimney breast.
Turned out local Tesco superstore had not-online offer of a vanilla HD 47 inch Toshiba for £400 last summer with free 5 year guarantee. Other deciding factor was the 3 hdmi inputs.
(The cheaper or lower series of branded tvs, assembled in the Vestel factory in Turkey, tend to have just 1 or 2 hdmi sockets). Small consideration but it means hdmi cables can be left permanently plugged in for son's games console and media player, in addition to the hdmi feed from the BT Youview box.
Consumes 44W compared to >100W for the old crt Toshiba, so I can tell myself I am saving money with each programme we watch.

  • Ta, yup similar thinking for us (although we just don't watch enough telly to warrant anything bigger).

    Can't argue for £209 with a 5 year warranty.

Don't need SmartTV stuff as I'll get that in some form of box (BT TV) or other PVR, or a computer attached. If I can even be arsed, have lived without it for years already.

    EDIT: Fucking John Lewis.

At time of ordering website says:

    • 10+ in stock
    • collect in store from 2pm Tuesday (confirmed in an email)

    Now:

    • on back order
    • order status is now "Order Processing"

Need it by Saturday morning, it better be there for me to collect.

  • massively long shot but crt projection repair in England? I need some new tubes for a Sony G70 (don't ask...) One of these beasts, bottom one -

    has anyone any ideas?

  • Does anyone know anything about android tv boxes?

I narrowed it down to one of these but just wondering if either has a slight edge over the other. 2 of them look like the same boards inside.

  • I'm heading to France next month, Nice in particular.

Does anyone have experience of riding there? road bike rental? or should I try n find a bike box?

Also any suggestions on places to visit?

    thanks

  • To add, Ive booked flights with Easyjet and have not booked on any luggage, does anyone know if i can add a bike box on to this?

  • You should through the website, failing that, call them.

It's an extra £75 I think, if your ticket is refundable, I suggest choosing BA as it's free to take sporting equipment and tend to cost a little less overall despite higher price tag.

  • Does anyone have experience of riding there?

    It's nice.

  • It's an extra £75

    ...but a bit pricey

  • It's £35 to take a bike on easyjet

  • SAS zero £

  • Free on BA and you can take a wheelie-bag plus rucksack on as hand luggage, and they feed you, plus you don't have to go to Luton, all mega-wins.

  • All the good riding is inland, although the coast road should be less mental out of season. The Col d'Eze, the Col de Turini and the Col de Vence are all easily accessible. Not sure if Max Leonard is still on here but he rides there a lot so is worth seeking out on Twitter or Strava.

  • just don't seek him out on instagram if you are quick to feelings on envy.

  • Hey Emyr

I'm fairly sure that you got that frame off ebay from me. I still have the original Phillips cottered cranks that came with it - PM me if interested.

  • I got it from Northampton's famous "Bomberdrome" Bill... Might be the same one though.

  • What options do I have for a 1 1/8 36*45 integrated headset for a pre cursa apart from the alpina? Anything more high end?

Also, would the alpina headset from Dolan come with the crown race?

  • Anything more high end?

99% of integrated headsets use the same grade of bearing cartridge from TH Industries. There's almost nothing else to an integrated headset, and any tarting up to make them more expensive tends to make them worse rather than better.

The crown race is part of the headset.

  • Metal is usually sitex from orbis

  • Can't remember where I posted it in all honesty but here is a pic of it built up that also shows the cranks..

  • That's not the same frame, mine has horizontal dropouts.

Did yours have the wide weird BB shell?

  • I have previously seen, but now cannot find, a REALLY cheap online bike bits place. Basically the sort of place where the people who turn-over cheap bikes on gumtree buy their parts. Tyres for <£5, bars for <£10 etc. Anyone got any idea where/what it might be?
