People with aero seatposts who are struggling to find a rear light, Aldi's next lot of cycling offers includes what looks awfully like a Moon Comet with saddle rail mount. Excellent light for TTs.

I'm the 45RC hillclimb champion! Well chuffed with that. Not sure how many 85kg hillclimb champs there have been - I put it down to being on fixed.

Was that you on the corner? I heard 'hippy' but nothing else. Quick tip: don't ride a 300k the day before a 50. Grim.

5 x Willesden HC Champ. 85-95kg :)

Oof!
I was 85kg... once.

Yup, the Browick turn.
A 300k audax would explain your "race face" :0

First open HC of the season today. Porlock toll road. 4.2miles at around 5.5%
Was 20secs slower than last year but most people more like 40to60s slower, so I think I am making progress. 26th vs 38th (lol) suggest so too, and I like to think the field was stronger this year - top three was Tejvan (former champ) Dan Evans (current champ) and Rich Bussell (10m TT champ)...
Not many TTs with views like this either (and closed roads!)

It was fucked. I soft pedaled half the bloody course because my arse was bruised/raw or because I didn't have the energy to turn the pedals. 30W down... on my 100mi power!!!

If we're doing race reports, then @dbr and I rode the Reading CC double HC this morning.
First hill out of Goring was a "roadman's" climb, 1.7 miles, starting at about 5% with a short section of 10% before levellign out at 3% for the final mile. 5:36 for myself on 72", 3:42 for dbr.
The second stage was Streatley (number 24 of 100 Climbs), which is a pretty ferocious 0.4 mile blast. Averaging 16% it starts off at 10% and reaches almost 1-in-4 towards the top before flattening off for the final 20 yards for the TK. 5:06 for myself on 53" and 2:51 I believe for dbr.
Ed Bradbury of NFTO surprised no-one with his win, taking 13 seconds off the CR for the first hill and 2:31 on Streatley, only a tenth of a second ahead of second.

How was your gearing?
I'm always struck that picking a gear for hill climbs must be even trickier then for conventional TTs.
-
• #10890
Both were probably about right. Could maybe have gone a little taller for the first. Yeah it's tricky as I don't have as much experience or a frame of reference like I do for flat TTs, just tend to go off gut instinct. Upped my gear for the first after riding it yesterday on 68".

Good work today Andy, also thanks for the race report - perfect except you sneakily knocked 2 minutes of both our times for the first climb!
We've not had the email yet but looking at the time keeper's sheet I think I came 10th.

I want to enter the Lea Valley CC 25-mile TT in a couple of weeks.
I'm a member of a club which is BC affiliated but not CTT affiliated. Would I have to race in the kit of my second club which is affiliated?
Alternatively, how much would it cost to get affiliation for the non-affiliated club for the rest of the year?
-
• #10895
I seriously doubt anyone will pull you up on what kit you wear. Unless you rock up in a sleeveless tri suit...

You can race in any kit you like in an open TT, apart from the kit of a UCI registered professional team. Just make sure you have sleeves :-) You need to enter the event with the affiliated club as your club on the entry form.
Alternatively, how much would it cost to get affiliation for the non-affiliated club for the rest of the year?
Annual CTT affiliation is £30, worth doing for next year but they run on a calendar year basis so you'd be paying £30 for what amounts to one month if you affiliated now.
