  • According to L'Eroica's regulations (or at least the current version) it's necessary to upload a medical certificate to the site, and to have done so by 31st July 2015. News to me, and I can't for the life of me see how you're supposed to do it. It appears, in addition, that for the 135km and 209km routes the medical test has to include an ECG test. So, anyone been and got their ECG test done yet?

  • same here... mate pointed it out to me. printed the form just an hour ago, I'll just have my GP sign it after I show him my heartrate data from a recent ride. Sports check-up with ECG is not covered by my insurance... Guess I'll just e-mail the scanned form to the organisation

  • Well, I've sent them an e-mail asking how to upload the medical certificate, because I can't find any way of doing it.

  • maybe that was only possible until July 31st?

  • Seems you have to e-mail it to iscrizioni@eroica.it

  • eeerrr lads, the Eroica Brittannia is sooo much better, dont bother with all that boll--ks

  • Better? I'd say it's hard to beat the original Strade Bianche and the Chianti countryside, the food, the wine. But I would love to do the British one too sometime, although the entry & camping fees are a little (...) over the top.

  • i didn't make the cut with the entry lottery this year so i'm not going anyway - sad times :(

  • What shoes do people use? I got some oldish Castelli road shoes with cleats - they look the business, but riding in them is petrifying and painful (they make my ankles hit the cranks quite often) and the soles are like glass so just removing the cleats not really an option. Not everybody in the pictures seems to be wearing period correct cycling shoes!

  • Quoc Pham cycling shoes, no cleats. Laces. Wore them for L'Eroica Britannia and they were fine.

  • 1980s Rivats with clips and straps death cleats. Utterly terrifying to use.

  • what's your riding to walking ratio?

  • just get some normal leather cycling shoes with no cleats, you can walk if you want to (but no reason why you should) and they are fairly comfortable to wear all day long

  • I don't know yet, I'm hoping not to walk very much at all. @tilover - after building the bike and getting every other thing (including some shoes!), I'm just hoping to avoid buying a pair of leather shoes that I'll hardly ever wear - all the ones I've seen on the internet are pretty expensive and handmade (Quoc Pham, Reynolds, Vittoria etc, all really nice looking shoes of course), and I've not seen anything cheaper and less niche in local shops. But @danstuff I'm experimenting with a cunning plan involving replacing the death cleats with a recycled section of trainer sole - not perfectly comfortable or secure and deeply un-stylish but seems like it might work.

  • Anyone organised a medical certificate? I havn't been to a doc in years

  • This medical certificate is a right PITA, plenty of places online, where you can get rubber stamps made up... just saying

  • I had my GF sign it, no stamp. Will send it this afternoon and cross fingers

Don't understand this anyway, why don't they just have evryone state & sign that they enter the ride at their own risk?

  • The beautiful Mrs Jangle has a hurty back and is not going to ride. We therefore have a 'spare' entry, for a lady.

    PM if interested.

  • entered the date (1 year after autograph date) and presto: medical certificate approved ;-)

  • Nice one, will do that right now;)

  • good luck!

  • Didn't work.

I'm just going to turn up and shout loudly.

  • Did you upload a file as well? I did mine this week - I did get a test but couldn't get a proper certificate since they don't have them here. In the end I uploaded a scan of the ECGs with a very illegible scrawl and a stamp from a dr on it, not at all a proper certificate, then set the date 1 year after the one on the scan. First it was red/not approved, then the next day or day after, changed to green/approved with no further intervention.

  • My bike for this year (now has chain & pedals). Holler if you see me in Gaiole!

  • Anybody driving or are you all flying? If any of you are passing through the Modena/Bologna area, do you think you could give me and my bike a lift? I'm happy to contribute to petrol and motorway costs. I also have a large 5 man tent you could sleep in if you haven't found anywhere to stay. On Sunday night you are also welcome to stay in my house in Modena.
