How about a second hand powertap rear wheel and a copy of training and racing with a powermeter?

Still look quite weighty
1605g with tape. Something like the Rydes sprints would be good.
Would buying from China be a cheaper way to do it and ensure the same quality?
Ensure quality? Not so much, they dont have a name to protect or the means. At least if you boil zipps down hardknott zipp will apologise and send you new ones (probably).

Buy some superstar Arc31 wheels and fit fast tyres/tubes, use the fulcrums with tougher tyres out of season if you like.
This.
Did find the ARC31 decent for climbing.

If you actually want to go faster and not just have a nicer bike*, this is the answer you seek.
*think long and hard about that question. I don't have an answer yet.

I've been enjoying the Ryde pulse sprints on DT240s with cx rays. Dunno what they weigh, but they're light, wide, and plenty stiff enough.

I'm a light bag of bones at 66kg and keeping up with faster club rides has been tough in the past. Due to this I was originally thinking a semi aero carbon set might give me a boost (will it? I'm talking about holding 18-20 mph avg for 50 or so miles around the Surrey hills).
It won't, the only way you can get faster is to make change to yourself.

I'm used to the braking, not sure other road users are!
Apologising at a junction at the bottom of a descent is quite a common occurrence. -

All good points. The nicer bike vs actually going quicker debate is something to think on!
I think a mate of mine has the ARC 31s, might see if I can borrow them. Will also think about the Ryde Pulse as well, reckon that could go under 1400g without breaking the bank...

On the other hand, if you have really nice wheels you'll ride your bike more and will get faster.

Nice thing about Flo30 is that the width matches the HED/Firecrest width so if you swap back and forth you just need to swap pads.
This of course is moot if you have already moved to disc brakes.

Are you offering a rear wheel?

My melted rear carbon clincher is deformed beyond belief. Yet still holds a turbo trainer tyre.
Yet I've had tiny dents in alu rims result in absolute refusal to hold a clincher beyond a few PSI.

DT Swiss R460, where can I buy these from? (just the rims)

yes, the "Delivery time unknown" worries me a little. I've emailed them, thanks
and 2 minutes later they reply - no stock :(

I've got a pair of 24h ones I'm unlikely to build up now.

That'd be great. Do let me know if you decide not to and how much you want for them, thanks

"Delivery time unknown"
On Bike24 that means not only do they have no stock, but the wholesaler has no stock and hasn't been advised by the manufacturer of a date for any future deliveries.

Quick question as I've never had a 11speed wheel before.
Got the new Arc31 from Superstar, there's a spacer provided with the wheelset to use it with a 10 speed cassette. In order to use it with my 6700 Ultegra cassette do I just use the spacer provided with the wheels? Cassette comes with another different spacer as well, so I'm a bit confused now tbh. -

Put both on.
@miro_o @Mechamorgan Mmm those Arcs are kind of like a budget version of the Flos. Still look quite weighty but a decent price....
I absolutely understand that training is crucial and I've nearly doubled my mileage this summer and will continue through winter (I have a mudguard friendly steel beast too).
I was wondering about Wheelsmith 38mm carbon - look pretty good. Would buying from China be a cheaper way to do it and ensure the same quality? Def want to avoid any delamination fun, particularly in the mountains :)
Or for lightweight alloy I was thinking Ryde Pulse sprint to some novatec hub...
