Any opinions on DCR Wheels as a builder? Seems to have a thoughtful website and decent prices so I'm fairly impressed, but no idea on build quality!
Considering a 20/24 ryde pulse sprint with cx Ray build for a pretty lightweight set. DCR have own brand hubs (would they be rebranded something else?) http://dcrwheels.co.uk/products/dcr-components/?doing_wp_cron=1440324333.6579720973968505859375
I'd be concerned about quality but the two year guarantee on the hubs kinda puts the mind at rest. These would be summer wheels so wouldn't see too much wet.

Anybody got any thoughts on these? I can't see any details on the hubs but they look light and blingy.

I had DCR build up some wheels with Kinlin 22T 24/28 on Novatec a few weeks ago. I'm pretty happy after 300 odd miles, no odd noises and very smooth. Build time was about two weeks and they were helpful by email in the pre-purchase consult.

What are they for? Not light (for shallow carbon tubs) so not ideal for climbing and not deep enough for mud, or aero.

DCR built a set for me: very helpful, would buy again.

Good point. Imagine I could get some alu rim tubs built to <that weight with better braking.
-
• #5486
You could probably just about get some alu clinchers to that weight.
-
• #5487
This is true. In fact my current Ksyriums are probably only 50-100g more.

Cool thanks for the thoughts on DCR

Is this for cross?
Seen these?

Slightly odd naming for an aluminium (*carbo*tech) 1700g (light) wheelset
-
• #5491
Thoughts on these? V-shape rather than toroidal rim, but seem good value still, and 1448g.

Daft money for what are most likely generic rims on Novatec hubs.
-
• #5493
Look shit. If you've got around that kind of money to spend there are better options.
-

I actually picked up a pair as they were so cheap. Granted as people have said heavy for low profile rim, but 1500 is still a good weight regardless. Mainly picked them up as I have a set of vision aluminium 35s and they are so good, wouldn't consider them if they weren't vision Plus want to try carbon rim + tubular.
-
• #5495
...such as? Bora One 35's are £500 more and the same weight. C50 pricer and heavier.
-
• #5496
Superstar have some reynolds rim carbon wheelsets for £339 including 15% off voucher.
-
• #5497
If you want to waste your money on outdated factory build options then go ahead, if not then the smart option would be some U shaped carbon rims built to the hubs of your choice with CS-Rays.

AUGUSTWHEEL, appears to work on clearance wheels too.
Use both spacers, the 1.85mm one which came with the wheel is for use with 9-speed cassettes and those 10-speed cassettes which don't need spacing to fit 9-speed rotors. If your cassette came with a 1mm spacer, it's there to make it up to the width of a 9-speed cassette.
