Square taper cranks in 2015 though...

Thats good to know. I'd written them of and seems I shouldn't have.

Oki doke, does what's the best in you opinion cut it?
Who knows? Shimano FC-S500 is "tester approved" and the chainline will be close enough if you mount the ring on the outside.

Thanks tester.

Ahh, missed this reply, sorry. Yeah and I've just had one of my rims crack around a nipple. Not so good. Warranty replacement, thankfully, but gotta wait 4-6 weeks for the new rim to appear. OH WELL.

3/32" chains: Wippermann 7Z1 for outdoors
Eurgh, just don't get the version with "Anti-Rust coating"; it's so matte silver it's almost white!
-
• #358
Yeah it's a bit anti. I've just ordered another one though. Functional.
-
• #359
It IS a bit anti, but can be turned from "black" to "as good as new" with a little wiping.

There's another version?

1Z1 is so good on a commuter bike but yeah, mega anti on anything nice.
Using a 1R8 on my fixiebiek again, forgot how agricultural it is. So noisy!

What about BBs for BB30 Shells and Shimano road cranks (well, rotor).
I'm thinking Wheelsmanufacting With Enduro angular contact bearings.

I just received a 7z1 in the post this morning - it is fugly and weird looking. Almost can't put it on the bike. Will give it a go though as the current KMC got very worn, very quickly.
Don't like the snap on link though. And it seems not to be lubricated. Is there a special lube I should be using on the 7z1. Was thinking something ceramic and dry?

Looking for energy gels?
in reply to @miro_o
I like Torq.

I'd hope the response would be to just man up and use a proper 30mm axled crank and reap the associated advanteges etc.
Can you imagine Tester pondering how to put an inferior 24mm axled crank in to a 30mm receptical? I can't.

Believe me I hate adaptors.
But that 24mm crank axle has an expensive powermeter wrapped around it. So its staying.
This doesnt feel like such of an adaptor to me. I have the KCNC Version i now. But I bought he wrong length and had to hacksaw out the centre. Plus every bearing on my bike has powderised tarmac cancer. I'm having to redo Wheels (knew this anyway) headset, and BB. On a 4 month old bike. Bloody country. Hopefully a degrease and repack will save some.

You can put a very good Shimano 24mm crank into a larger shell allowing for decent size bearings, unless you use one of those "lump of metal" adaptors.

Of course. But it would be inferior to a 30mm crank in a 68mm BB30 / PF30 shell AND a 24mm crank in a BB90 / BB86 / whatever shell. I guess I find it difficult to believe Tester would approve of it. But whatever.

Yeahbut modular cranks yo.

That sounds like a new dietary fad.

Where does the 108 fit into the range?
Near the bottom.

They do come with factory grease, just not swamped in it like some makes. You can either leave it alone (it's a chain for your shopping bike, not something to get precious about) or you can strip off all the grease with a solvent degreaser and then vacuum impregnate with a suspension of about 5% W/W of nano-divided WS2 powder in paraffin wax

Kinky.
Eno rings are easier to change... self extracting crank bolts+spline/lockring interface on the rings mean it's 5 minute job at most. No messing around with chainring bolts!
