  • And the seat tube angle, very slack on bigger size.

  • Here is the little fella and probable well too small for you.

  • the Resolution is just as slack?..

  • Yes, but at least it looks like Mason cycles have actually factored it into the geo (i.e. the frame sizes actually get longer as they get taller).

  • That Cervelo chart is 5+yrs old now - you'll find most manufacturers have now adopted S&R sizing approach that brings them more in-line with that Cervelo curve. E.g.

    http://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bikes/road/tarmac/sworks-tarmac-duraace#geometry

    http://www.cannondale.com/uk_gb/2015/bikes/road/elite-road/supersix-evo/supersix-evo-black-inc

You sometimes get some overlap on the x2 smaller sizes but that's usually governed by a min. front-centre measurement for toe-clearance reasons (they usually compensate/straighten out overall reach with stem length). Most manufacturers simply ignore this though.

Strangely, some still list S&R even though there was no consideration the figures in the geo. Pinerello is a classic example with their mind-boggling 13 size offering. Who knows, maybe they like paying for carbon moulds?! :) Take a look @ the Dogma F8

  • They didn't adopted the S&R in the sense they design their bike with it, just included that measurement on their chart.

Specialized is notoriously bad in having a consistent sizing.

Yeah this; even with dale supersix 54 and 52 have exact same reach.
Few are doing the progressive stack and reach approach still.
In the new/young British brands Bowman and Mason are decent.
Trek are doing it well IMO; ALL H2 geo frames have exact same stack and reach.

And ofcourse all of your bikes @Alb ;)

  • The women's CAAD10/Supersix in smaller size is actually Quite decent in the smaller size than the normal version.

  • Di2 ultegra disc brake road bike?

Cannondale synapse appeals, but does not have mudguard mounts.

    Are there any that do?

  • That one ed likes. Saracen.

Or just go titanium. Then it's like your other bike though.

  • I am assuming that cannondale's r&d into carbon frames is further advanced than a relatively new custom carbon frame manufacturer. Added to this the bulk buying power of a relatively large company I guess the total bang for buck to be better on an OTP bike. For example with the synapse I'd look to swap the saddle for an arione which I have bnib at home and then put on some nice wheels. The other wheels could be my backup for either this bike or my commuto x bike. Even then I'd guess the total cost would be less than the build cost for a full custom bike - and I know that boutique builds always spiral out of control.

Another thing is Sigma for example are offering two year interest free finance packages

Part of me thinks that mudguard mounts should not be a deal breaker as the commuto x bike has guards already fitted.

  • I'd buy the focus cayo.

    Fit Di2 yourself.

The cayo frame is top notch.

    Cheaper than a cannondale too.
Spend the money you save on some zipp 303 disc rims.

    Fit some PDWs. Job done.

  • James fährt Rennen?

  • ^ Gonna need @miro_o to translate that

  • Getting finance on a self build is much more tricky and don't get the economies of scale of an otp.

  • Trek domane disc has mudguard mounts, but only DA Di2.

Specialized have a silly proprietary rear hub so a no go

  • :|

I have GCSE Deutsch but don't speak any Crazy.

  • Giant Defy disc?

    #bikeradar

Aparantly Degencolb rides one at certain classics... but I guess (like the Synapse) it'll be a special geo version with less stack.

  • The Synapse carbon disc are amazing, I build one with a slammed stem and it actually look awesome.

Alu Disc, however is not, avoid like the plague.

  • Did you remove the conical spacer?

Given my flexibility I could use their 56cm frame but would need to swap the stock 100mm stem for 110 or 12o and probably keep the conical spacer. Or go one size up slammed stem but have 100mm stem.
