Do you keep unclipping?
-
• #903
I have them on my Pompino, not brakeless but again they feel just as secure at my aliums.

yeah its happened twice in proper shit the bed type fashion. guessing the old ones i got from joss are just knackered
those cheap atacs are pretty solid infact. they do look very cheap though, and the left pedal has some sort of clicking/clunking noise if you are going uphill (a lot of force going through the pedal) so I have contacted CRC for a refund (yes picky)

Yeah as people have said some of the old ones are just a bit done in, they are 20 years old after all. I've had no problems at all with XC2's though. When you've unclipped have you just popped right up out of the pedal or is it whilst getting whippy?

Got some ATAC XC4's for the latter part of the summer.
I ride brake less and they've been absolutely fine. Skids, whips etc, no problems.
Bought the XC4's as they have adjustable spring tension, but haven't bothered to adjust anything. Still on whatever setting they were delivered on.
Had a quick look the other day and they're not bad money too. I assume the XC2's are a bit cheaper still.
Bought some cheap Shimano MTB shoes off ebay as I wasn't sure how I'd get on clipped in. The shallow tread they have is quite handy as it keep the cleats off the ground. Saves any wear on them and stops me sounding like Glue-Boy the horse when walking.
Hope not to have to many of the 'shit the bed' moments as mentioned above but I'll let you know if I do!

xc4s are what i want, but nowhere sells them! currently bidding on ebay for some

Running some xc4s and some older aliums at the moment.
Differences I can feel-
The bars on the xc4s are square, engagement feels slightly more 'clicked'
Running the tension at low or mid is interesting- very easy to exit the pedal but still feels very secure and (touch wood) so far haven't popped out unexpectedly.
Can't say I notice any more foot support from the wider pedal body which is strange- could be to do with the profile of my shoes though.

@salmonchild, interesting, I've had a couple of secondhand pairs of aliums bite the dust on one side (usually one of the springs works loose and you unclip pretty easily) so looking to upgrade those ones and was going to work through the possibility of loosening springs by purchasing times where you can adjust the tension...

Did you win the XC4's in the end swedeee?
Weren't bad money in the end were they?
I'd bid on them when they first popped up but left them alone when you said you were bidding. Seemed only fair!

anyone have a beater pair they want to sell?
-
• #914
Did anyone bought custom cleats from "vladi" or have his contacts? I am up for trying them but there was no activity in his account for a year now.

Argh, my 7 year old Aliums have finally bitten the dust, one of the bars has snapped and my cleats need replacing. Money's an ish at the moment, so are these MX2 pedals any good?
Otherwise, are Shimano SPDs comparable?

Yeah they seem to have replaced the Aliums at the bottom of the range, I'll give them a go
-
• #918
They're fine. I used them on my pompino for ages.
-
• #919
They look almost usable with normal shoes. Anyone tried?
-
• #920
Yeah I have, it's do-able

Are Mavic using the ATAC system too now?

Atac xc6 pedals, unclipped 3 times when I was pedalling out of saddle and at home I found out that the bar holding retention arch come out half way from composite body. I manage to push it back and it felt quite loose. I have one week left of warranty, should I send them back or it’s normal? Is it ok to move and kinda part of disassembling and pedal maintenance thing or is loose and faulty?

Fuck it, went over to Spuds; cheap, solid, that'll do me
-
