Cheers, will go for the 25's - makes more sense anyway as I can swap with the road bike. (don't worry, no skidding on the corsas - it's for fancy fixed summer road trips)

I have a pair of these, have done for a month, and despite getting a puncture every ride I did on my Pagri Roubaixs so being slight hesitant about Challenge's puncture resistance claims, these have been fantastic. Including riding The Hell of North London, and commuting daily for a month, I've had 1 puncture, which I don't think is too bad for tyres that are this comfy
they're a great pro-muter tyre...

so... these - winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/70294/Clement_Strada_LGG_Tan_Wall_Folding_Road_Tyre_CM01038?gclid=CNfspK-ynMUCFSvJtAodciYAUw for £20 each, or Vittoria Open Corsa?

2500 miles on my open pave. Not a single puncture. And I've ridden footpath, bridal paths and some massive potholes.
But they're pretty much worn out. We'll the back is. -

Consensus seems to be that tubeless makes sense for larger volume tyres (27mm and greater)
Interesting to see that Schwalbe have a 30mm tyre in the pipeline.

How many miles do people get out of 4000s?

Are the Specialized S-Works Turbo Cotton clinchers as good as the reviews say? Where's the cheapest place to find them? Worth the extra money over GP4000s?

Specialized S-Works Turbo Cotton
They seem like really supple summer/race only tyre to me which means they will wear out faster with less puncture protection.
If it was me I'd go for Veloflex master/record/corsa with latex tubes; half the price too.

Best 27" tyre at the mo?
Searching suggests Pasela Compe but any other options worth looking at?
Going on a late 50's club build. -

Ah ok. Just had a look at the reviews and they don't seem to be any better re: punctures. Also they have "gum coloured sidewalls", rather than actual cotton with the rubber glued on, which seems a bit naff. But yeah, S-Work's are pricey.

The Veloflex casing is cotton.
The Specialized tyres might even be made my Veloflex or (more likely) Vittoria.
-

"320tpi 'polycotton' casing – likely similar, if not identical, to what Vittoria uses for its high-end open tubulars, given that these are made in the same factory."
24 or 26? 26 rear 24 front maybe? I'm big and heavy.

I reckon the Spesh Turbo Cottons are an open tubular version of the Vittoria Crono tub with gumwalls.

... sounds fragile.

Vittoria Pave CG maybe? Just want to try something different from the GP4000s

Michelin Pro4 SC ?

I'd love to try something different to GP4000s if they were easier to get on and off my rims - anyone got Pacenti SL23s and uses a different tyre?

I need some new tyres for a summer of sportives.
Recommends for durable race tyre? -

Any from the Conti Grand Prix series will do (they all have 180tpi as far as i know). Alternatives may be Vittoria Rubino (150tpi) or Conti Gatorskin (220tpi).

Put some GP4000s back on my bike last night as an experiment to see if I really could tell a difference to the Veloflex.
The answer is yes. GP4000s feel like they're slightly less stable than this:

"endorsed" is an interesting way of putting it.. .

Open Corsa Evo CX 25c swollen to 27mm width after 2 month, internal rim diameter 18mm - never been over 100 psi. Height wise seem unchanged. No punctures.
Until I got wide rims I had 25s on narrow for 2 summers, still worth it over 23c I reckon.
