Don't . Met a sub 50h target PBP audaxer last weekend who rode open paves explaining to me either these or Four Seasons for anything with lanes. Wales being Wales he said I should be alright with the 4000s for the BCM.

Yeah? Can see why. I've done 1500miles on the paves now. See how they go in the next 1000.
But i've been riding everywhere in the roads. Massive potholes. Gravel. Dirt tracks. (on purpose)

I only got two punctures on Pavés all winter, one was a pinch that was my fault and one was a big metal spike. And this was riding down some really shitty Chilterns roads. Don't think I'll get another winter out of them though, they're pretty cut up.

He mentioned a 1200 he did in Bulgaria, should have asked a bit more. They are doing back to back 400 audaxes on the bank holiday.

My bike is green though, I don't think the slightly mismatching green would be a good look.

Pavés are the only acceptable coloured tyre. Clashing is a good thing, it's pro.

Maybe for the winter... Are the black ones not as good?
I was thinking about getting some veloflex masters, but would prefer something in a larger size really.

Black ones are vastly inferior. How big? Vittoria Open Corsa SC comes in 25c

^ha, I wish they'd price them as inferior.
I'm continually impressed with the Open Pave (in black) so much so that I've put the half worn set on my commuter fixeh - it rides so nicely and so far no issues normal London roads. They did a whole winter too with no spontaneous deflations. 2 deepish cuts on the rear and small flat spot from a lock up is the only damage. They do wear out fast though. For comparison my conti 4000s have done 12 months every day riding and while there's plenty of cuts they have remained inflated and still no where near worn. They do not feel as good as the vittoria's though.
Question for summer roadie mode though. I'm going to stick to Vittoria Open of some kind - corsa CX or just stick to pave's?

Open Corsa CX/SC/SL to suit your tastes. I've run SCs for the past two summers, great tyre, super fast and comfy but not too delicate either. Got a box fresh pair waiting for my new wheels to arrive.

28s ideally, although I'm on 28cs paselas at the minute perhaps the nicer tyre will make up for the loss of volume.
I had been considering the strada biancas in 30c.
-
• #1463
They'll be good.
-
• #1464
The biancas or the Corsa SLs? The corsas are £54 a pair at ribble at the minute which is tempting.

The Strada Bianchis. If you've got the clearance, why not?
Corsa SL tests slightly faster than CX/SC. Used one on the rear of my TT bike all last season.

I meant the SCs I think.
I have the clearance for the Stradas. The main thing putting me off if the cost and this review where they look a bit delicate:
http://smutpedaller.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/tyre-review-challenge-strada-bianca.htmlThey look comfy though...

No more delicate than the Vittorias.Stick some latex tubes in there and you'll feel like you're flying.

What 25 gumwall shoul I buy?
The compass ones? For a road bike.

I saw riders with Pavé puncture all over the place during HOTN but my mate on Clement LGG 120TPI didnt have a single puncture; he is not light.

Open Corsa SC

Clement LGG 120TPI
I'd decided on these in gumwall before and then realised they didn't make them.

I've just bought some Clement LGG (60 TPI) in 25c cos Ed kept going on about them. I like a nice rolling tyre but I HATE punctures. I'm also a tart and the gum wall is proper old-school gum wall for my old bike. Will report back anon.

Cheers. Will invest in SC I think. And latex.

Mavic Open Pros (CD) and Vittoria Open Corsa SC, - 23 or 25's?
23's are cheaper and it's a more fashion over function wheelset but I'm used to wide rims and 25's now (1st world probs and all that). I know in my head it's bugger all difference and I should stop wetting the bed over such things...
4000s are ace
