For the smaller clubs the money is a big draw. The extra games may mean they finish 14th rather than 9th.

For the bigger clubs the money is mostly irrelevant. The extra games may mean they finish 5th-8th instead of fighting for 3rd/4th.

It's also a good competition for weeding out crap managers and racist clubs.

Interestingly enough, two graduates from Chelsea's academy were in the PFA Team of the Year. No other top five side had any.
