Even though my Eddy Merckx Team Alu rode quite well equipped with Record 10 speed my mind wasn't at ease with that set-up.
Indulging myself in fantasy 1990s pro cycling it could only have Record 9 speed after all i'm going up against Ulrich, Virenque Chippo et al....
It's a pity that the ITM big one stem didn't seem to come with a negative rise variant (I don't like stick ups) also I added a pair of Campagnolo Vento wheels, OK they're not Shamals but i got them cheap and they roll wonderfully after being serviced by your truly.

Chaps, does anyone have an opinion on the Eddy Merckx EMX-525 2015 version?
My heart isn't really into carbon even though I have a Look KG...and a BMC, most likely because I regard it as an ephemeral material plus I cannot abide sloping top tubes. Sloping top tubes were girls bikes when I was a kid.
However I cannot remain in the past forever I have modern components that need fitting to something...European!
How much input if any do you think Eddy had in this design?

Haven't ridden it, but have seen quite a few in real life lately. I must say they look really nice! Great to see something different(ish).

your alu looks a fine build @Fignon
I recently got this in Belgium
compared to this, the seat tube has been some what trimmed compared to this example
this complete example was listed here from Scandinavia (I think), I contacted vendor to see if they had any info on frame, both have the same chain stay decal/protector, and both frames are the same, the forks on mine are slightly different, web searches have been fruitless in the hunt for other examples, so they could be quite rare -

Well Sarrf that track cadre is a terrific find, well done.
Are the geometries the same between the two examples? the built up one looks to be more of a sloper.
Also what size is your one? I can't quiet tell with that mega tubing. -
• #183
thanks @Fignon
the tt is my size, approx 55cm c-c, st is between 55c-c to 57/8 c-t
i guessed geo on the two is similar, maybe not, came with campagnolo bb and modus hs
i plan to build for the track, and have been told it should have a rear disk wheel, which new, even at 'lower' ends brands are not cheap sadly, so i'll keep an eye out to see what i can get second hand, as the frame was a bargain, a new wheelset could be over 100x what i paid for frame, will have to find an expanding seat tube /post clamp as well. but there are a number of modern/new track frames available by different brands so a) i should be able to source a clamp
b) it will not look too bad riding against modern frames -

Would a Spinergy style real wheel work?
-
• #186
Thanks Wim
the stay sticker says connex wipperman and the non drive side tt has two stickers, one near the ht "G1" and one near the st "Vanderhauwert M" (riders name I suspect) I thought "G1" could mean group one

heard bad things about spinergy's, death wheels etc
blb do some , but not cheap,
, if i was to go to that i think i could get a zipp for more or less the same money, i was thinking of getting an intergralter cockpit, and I have a flite saddle, would get a campagnolo pista crankset as well -
• #188
no blb pls, a zipp 950 will be more than appropriate (and cheaper)

• #189
your a merckx owner?
was just putting up as an example tbh, i would prefer mavic (walooon /french?) but soooo expensive new
front and rear 0ver 4k
on a 130 quid frameset? -

Regarding the Merckx EMX-525 it seems as if it is only available for electronic shifting gruppos.
Also after a bit more reading on the web Eddy Merckx was the second person ever to ride one of these frames so I guess he did have some input into it's design. I was under the impression that he walked away from the brand when he sold the company.

Nice to think Eddy still has input!

Connex Wippermann, as you probably know, is a producer of chains. Think they were the precedent of KMC but I'm not sure about that.
The rider was probably Matthias Vanderhauwaert. The guy here on the right (left of the Belgian Champion).

Good work ! Thanks Wim! Was he any good?
-
• #194
He was not bad on national level. Became 2nd on the National Championships back in 2006 ("team pursuit") and 3rd in the"dernyrace". Internationally nothing decent to write about.

Ok, great info, thanks again Wim!
hopefully this set is in the post

Good choice.
Alters and Integralters work best with thick alu tubing like yours. My only concern is what is the incline on these? i would have thought especially on a track bike you'd want - 17 degrees or more.
BTW : do you know how to use those Verniers? I don't which why mine are digital lol...
-
• #197
Thanks again!
I like the horizontal flat on the bar, not sure the incline what is, i don't think it will be 17, I think these were mainly roadie sets, as they have cable holes, but i'v seen a few used on track builds, should be stiff,
the picture is vendors, so not my verniers, i do have digital and plain though...0) -

Just received this, a 10th Anniversary Merckx SLX with full Dura Ace 7400. It needs new cables and tape. It's in pretty good shape, some paint chips here and there but nothing critic.
Bottom drain holes of the seat stays clogged with rusty dirt, and I can hear rattling noises when I turn the bike upside down... -

Picked up this lo-pro this morning. Anyone have a guess what model it is?
Under the BB it says T-A4612. Cadre.org says those are Century TSX, but those have the cable input on the toptube on the left, and not on top like my frame (http://www.cadre.org/Merckx/catalog/Eddy%20Merckx%201990/CCF25022008_00003.jpg)
I'm guessing a Corsa Extra? (http://www.cadre.org/Merckx/catalog/Eddy%20Merckx%201990/CCF25022008_00005.jpg)

I wouldn't worry about the debris that you can hear moving about, a lot of frames have that, just unblock those little holes to let moisture out.
