I'm definitely planning to go next year. Now I'm wiser so I will be better prepared and:
-won't get so drunk day before the race
-adjust my gearing so I won't have to walk all the strade bianche uphills
-learn more Italian so I won't have to communicate using sign language -

good plan - i think i need to do the same

I'm going to drive next year, although getting the train there from Pisa airport was pretty easy, I got lost coming out of Seina, spent 2 hours cycling aimlessly around the city before really setting off, some guy (who spoke no English) with dog, wife and son in a pickup gave me lift for the last 5k, dropped me at the football pitch :) I need to bin the 52/42 or sort out a bigger rear before next year though

I've done the Eroica three times when you could enter it straightaway without the lottery. It is a memorable day on the bike... it is becoming a bit over-commercial these days, but the ride is still superb... there is nothing quite like it anywhere.
Other period rides you should consider: Retroronde in Oudenaarde, understated, low key, but a fantastic weekend on period bikes. Includes a criterium race if you like the adrenaline. The ride itself is a take on the Tour of Flanders, just on different cobbles
Anjou Velo Vintage: doesn't have the Eroica magic, but it is a superbly organised retro ride in the Loire Valley

It's of course a lot more picturesque if you avoid it and take either the Gran St Bernard pass or the Petit St Bernard pass. Maybe not with a camper van though...

Hasn't Anjou Velo been cancelled for 2015?

Pre-registration is up.
Something to look forward to.

i'm not sure i'll go but i've registered anyway to see

Registered team of 9, pretty pissed that promised survey ballot privilege is available only for individual riders, not teams. Aquired some mailard freewheel which will propably spare me a lot of uphill walking.

-
• #16
I'm on the list too:) Also no e-mail as yet.
If all goes well, lunch in Gaiole?
-
• #17
Figured it out now, you have to dig out your pre-registration e-mail, then activate it.
Good job I'm having Italian lessons!

Just entered Eroica Hispania... right next to Bilbao....easyjet has cheap flights... two weeks before Eroica Brittania... whats not to like.....
-

meh... mate of mine entered us as a group and I took the survey last year
"N.B. The price of €48 is not valid for those who have answered to the survey, but have pre-registered as a group, because the system is not able to manage different prices within the same group."
f*ck the system!

It's bloody hard work registering, isn't it. The link in the e-mail is badly formatted, so doesn't work (not for me anyway). The link in the 'I didn't get my e-mail' e-mail is simply wrong, so doesn't work either. Getting it to work required combining the two to hack a new URL, and then filling in the form in Italian only. Regno Unito indeed.
Lunch in Gaiole sounds like an excellent plan. Which bike are you taking?

I didn't find getting the link to work too bad, but I was well into a bottle of Chianti at the time, which clearly helps.
Most likely to be taking a Witcomb as usual this year, but I am already planning to build a frame from scratch for 2016.
By the way, like what you have done with that Witcomb off me in current projects.

We did the survey, but signed up as a group. Thought it was against the rules to register individually too. So no places for us. Also, if you register individually you can check the charity ticket option - bit you can't do that as a group.
Bit chaotic. Hopefully we will still be there for our 5th year.

Hey guys,
seems like there are a few of us registered to this event and there are a few who already completed in previous years. Can you help me please as I'm a newbie to this. Currently I'm searching for accommodation but the price range I'm willing to pay - what I find reasonable now - mean hotels too far from the start.
The only thing reasonable is a camping about 14 km away with bungalows on offer: Camping Village Orlando in ChiantiIdeas please :)

Can somebody post a link to the correct page to register, as I am way too sober to make anything work.. thanks

The best camping is on the football field in Gaiole, it cost 20 Euros for the weekend last year, about a 2 min walk to the centre of town, a really good atmosphere, there's a marquee and clubhouse/bar so the only time I was ever actually in the tent was when I was asleep :)
i know it's very early but had such a nice time this year and i've kept up riding the holds worth most days since i've been back - anyone planning it for next year?
i would love to think i could learn to drive by then and drive my folks camper van, but i doubt they'll trust me to borrow it (i am 32 btw)
