Ordered some stuff off cnc-bike, can someone who's shopped there before clarify how payment works? As best I can tell I need to wait for confirmation and then, I guess, bank transfer? Very confusing what with not speaking German.

^^^ I dispensed with the whole rack/crown issue by buying another frameset off retrobike to build up. I feel this was definitely the most sensible course of action.

Just looks like the retainer ring has popped off, pop it back on, they can be annoying.
-
• #67381
Maybe look at chain line too.
-

@fussballclub will probably take that literally and just think that staring at the chain line will fix the problem. He is the man that complained about his bike fit causing knee problems when he was riding on a twisted and bent crash damaged saddle.

Quill to Ahead adapters. Are they all pretty much the same, or are there certain ones known to be of better quality/lighter weight?
-
• #67384
Thank you. Looked liked this. But how do I get it over the gear cable please?
-
• #67385
Snotts is right, but I'd give it a bit of a clean too... Especially where the retaining ring is supposed to sit...
-
• #67386
Not quite sure what you mean about getting it over the gear cable. It's a split ring, if the cable is somehow in the way then just pull it apart and put it the other side

At some point I wish to upgrade the Groupset on the commuto x bike to shimano hydraulic shifters and 11spd mechanical. My Hope Pro 2 is not the 40t version so can't take 11spd cassette. Am looking to get a new set of Hope hubs, probably 32 hole. What rims would the hive mind suggest? Am thinking possibly Stans Grail or the Hope carbon rim - would like something that would work with a 30mm tyre (possibly even bigger) they need to be able to take my weight and sometimes heavily laden panniers too.
Any suggestions?

Pacenti CL25? I have that on the tourer, cheap, light and actually quite strong.
Planet X have them half price.

That actually worked a treat. Thanks again.

Given Specialized seem to ruthlessly enforce mail order restrictions on their products, how can I get a 35% cheaper than UK (and sold out in the UK) F&F imported from Europe?
-
• #67395
Get it relayed by someone in Europe?
I'll be back over shortly - if you could get it delivered to an address in either France or Germany I could either post it on, or bring it back (Germany = post, France = if I can get it on Eurostar I'll bring it back).

Found a Dutch bike shop on twitter willing to ship but sold out there too. Global 52 cm shortage :(

Is it available here?

If it was me it would be in one of the following places:
- the box where you keep bike lube/grease/cleaning stuff
- the box where you keep computing/AV cables
- next to your hifi, because it's a convenient place next to where you smacked the headset cups out
- the side pocket of a pannier you've not used in a year which lives at the back of your shoe cupboard

I think you'll have to go for an open corsa or something for the 700c, but at least they're both the same make.
Definitely euph
