  • Light, fast tyres. Imagine picking up a piece of glass or flint in a race tub and then losing the TdF because of a puncture.

  • it's very simple really ... he was in the transition zone of his ride
you are not allowed to ride in the transition zone, any triathlete knows that

  • A flat you got in a past life as a Fred swanning around in Richmond Park car park? Is this a significant risk at the TDF?

Go home @hippy you are (still) drunk.

  • Brick session. dicki has it sussed! :)

  • Are you paying attention to the posts in this thread? I was merely pointing out a reason for carrying a bike and the anecdote from a Lance documentary I once saw which was specifically related to this.

  • @hippy is going on a Taxi Driver spree looking for people carrying their bikes

  • "come on knobhead, stop fannying about taking pics, I'm late for work"

  • "Watch me smash my seatstays/chainstays into the gate."

  • Ha just seen these. Utter bollox as usual. U made it to ignore!

Film thread needs another review >>>>>

  • You'll want to quote so I know you're on about.

[Edit] Don't bother. You've never contributed anything interesting to the forum [Edit]

  • I do sometimes carry my bike under certain circumstances:

    1. When covering rough terrain.
    2. Having been injured by my pedals. No matter what you say, it does happen and when I'm not wearing socks and I have the evil spikey pedals on I am particularly vulnerable.
    3. Ascending the flights of the step variety. (Kind of covered in point 1)

Just realised that four other pages have been posted before moi.

  • Richmond car park is not rough terrain
Road bike pedals should not have spikey bits
Richmond car park does not have flights of stairs

  • I was speaking more generally in response to a statement on page one (Just realised that four other pages have been posted before moi):

Why don't people just wheel them? Is it some sort of machismo thing? Is carrying a bike easier than I'm giving it credit for?

  • ^^^^^That is exactly the sort of shit I'm talking about. Why is he carrying his bike?

  • To avoid getting the discarded needles in his tires.

  • I carry my bike if it's stairs.

  • Richmond car park is not rough terrain

Tell that to the "mountain" bikers on the Tamsin trail...

  • Amazing how many bad/close overtakes in RP are done by people with expensive bikes in/on the back of their cars.

Fucking this! +1 Nearly been taken out a few times this way.

About the carrying. I had to wheel my bike a couple of kilometres and the scrape of the clips started getting on my tits no end, perhaps I would have carried it if I wasn't so lazy

  • I would actually rather cycle in the car park so i don't trash the soles of my shoes. not that i ever stop in the car parks except maybe the pen ponds tea van thingy.

is it time to start calling out cyclists carrying their bikes?.......YES
