Carrying the bike for some upper body gains.
-
• #82
Yeah, if carrying the bike is just one facet of training for the track, then it's sensible.
-
• #83
Mm.. not really the same though is it? Road bikes are designed for.... wait for it.... the road. Proper track bikes are designed to be ridden on the track.
-
• #84
I have no opinion on this*. I'm just happy more people in general are riding bikes.
*Unless it's at the velodrome. Why wheel your tarck biek through the gravel, glass and whatever else may be there to bring that onto the track? Carry please.

Key word in there: proper

Richmond Park so it's probably a triathlete running £70/ea tubs and they are at least sensible enough not to get them full of glass, rubble, etc. before riding.

I carry my bike to the car when I have race wheels fitted and I don't even use flash tyres. #becauseitlookspro #becauseiamworthit #because

I'm sure there was a Lance A documentary about him disciplining/firing a mechanic who wheeled his bike to a start line somewhere instead of carrying it.
-

This guy did not have race wheels fitted. The ground was not treacherous.
He was just carrying his bike where a normal person would have wheeled it. Lots of men do this.
It's fucking weird.

+1 for everybody for this outstanding thread.
Sometimes I carry my track bike from the container to the track and I always feel like a weakling for doing that. But if I wheel it over I then see my tyres covered in gunk and I give them a wipe which also makes me feel like a weakling. I can't win here people.

Carrying my bike today because it gave me the option to put on gloves, cycling cap and helmet all whilst transferring from train to street, all of which activities are impossible whilst wheeling the bike #Ishityounot

Seems like you need to resolve this...perhaps it would be worth your while to ask why they do this weirdness with their bikes?

What kind of shite tyre gets full of glass and rubble from being wheeled over anything?
Unless the bike a 40kg Halford full sus piece of shit then I fail to see how wheeling a bike over anything could do anything to the tyres.

I really do love how you're hung up about this.

I use the fat Michelin Pro Optimums (25mm but come up >27mm) but they don't make them any more so I've bought stock of their new 'endurance' oriented tyres. I think they're just called Pro 4 Endurance or something.
