Pleased to report that the rims have started to behave well out here. Had a great time on them yesterday- so comfortable and smooth, not too heavy, stiff, braking is good and they handle beautifully in the corners.
Shame that my stomach has decided not to play ball today - hopefully I'll be back on the bike tomorrow. -

Good to hear Dan - about the wheels anyway. Totally agree with your comments. Belgium's are nicer, but they're also too expensive and hard to come by.

32h 3x it is...if that's the case I might just rebuild my 32h Phils instead of going new hubs. Shame that sprockets cost so much. Oh well, bling factor etc.

What are the alternatives? Dura ace for anything 15t and below, but what about for 16-19t that won't strip threads and is the right thickness? Most googling and searching seems to highly recommend against other sprockets.

You know it! Although a winter where I live is pretty damn dry, so chances are the "winter wheels" will actually be my "only wheels".
In all seriousness I'll probably be reminded of CX prices and just stick to ye olde Race or D-Light spokes because I can't break the aero-spoke-benefit barrier (was it 30/35mph or so?)

Got a 19t Phil at the moment and only the polished part of the teeth has worn slightly. Almost makes me want to get the 17/18 as I'll never end up replacing them...or the hubs.

If you want hand built luxury, Ambrosio excellence on Wheelsmith.co.uk own hubs, not cheap but you won't spend a small fortune on replacing custom spokes at a tenner a time - they use standard Sapim laser, 75p each!

Ok, and if we look at the other end of extravagance, recycling the hub and spokes, the spokes are about 8 months old (Sapim Race). I've taken a look at the prowheelbuild spokecalc as a first pass and from the calculator I can get away with these replacement rims:
-Velocity Deep V (but in black, they're laced to a really shocking champagne colour deep v at the moment)
-Kinlin XC279
-Open Pro (laced 2x)
-Velocity Synergy (laced 2x)
-TB14 (laced 2x, but spokes will fall 2-3mm short...concerned about nipple thread engagement on this option)
-Or I could unlace and oven cleaner the deep V's and paint themThoughts?

Judging from the article my only option is to keep the 3x it is currently in, and not remove the spokes from the hub.

Yeah, generally when you lace a hub once it makes minor marks into the hub flange, not recommended to go against them, for that reason I'd go xc279, reuse old spokes as they've not seen a lot of use and are at quite a high count, but get new nipples, that should allow you to fine tune the spoke length too
I'd go 28 32 both three cross.
