  • Any issues with buying an edge 1000 from an EU retailer - specifically bikediscount.de? Assume maps etc will be no issue but just want to make sure before I drop ££.

  • Did you have to pay anything? I'm still waiting for mine to come back from them.

  • Not a penny, is only ~6 months old though

  • Just buy from handtec

But no there won't be an issue.

  • I'm going to try one of these: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/11/magellan-depth-review.html

To go with a Tickr-X HR strap: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/01/wahoo-fitness-tickr.html

    Both connecting to my telephone.

  • You want to take a phone with you on every run?

  • I always take my phone with me, on every run, already.

  • how else do i play the musics?

  • Bongo Drums

  • To much drag

  • Email from Garmin- new Fenix II on its way

  • Wiggle rather

  • My 405 (old tech now) is massively variable day to day. Some days it's spot on and shows exact locations I crossed roads etc, other days it's miles off (almost literally) like when it started my run about a half mile away in the middle of someones garden.

  • Upgraded to the 1000, my only concern was that all my K Edge mounts would be redundant.

Have managed to dremel off the aluminium bit that was stopping the mount sitting out far enough for the larger device. Have now super glued it in place and added super glue to the bolt so hopefully it wont self destruct on bumpy roads.

Will need to tinker with the settings as the 1000 lost 15% of charge in 80 minutes of being on. Though I now have the cable for my Exposure lights that turns them into a USB power supply.

  • Which light are you using? Thinking about this for my 800 (1000mAh, albeit bloody knackered) . Light would be a Diablo mk6 (3100mAh). Alternative would be an Anker external battery (3200mAh) from Amazon.

  • I now have the cable for my Exposure lights that turns them into a USB power supply.

Really? Where's that from? Sounds like a wicked idea since I typically run out of GPS juice before light juice.

  • I think that is a dynamo specific light, but might well be wrong

  • "The Boost Cable is a cunning little device that enables USB devices to run directly from the energy stored in any of our SPT Exposure Lights. Whether you’re trying to charge a GPS unit or a phone the Boost Cable will get you out of trouble on those long rides and weekend adventures. (some Apple devices are incompatible)"

So, it should work with all my Exposure lights. That's pretty cool.

  • Though I now have the cable for my Exposure lights that turns them into a USB power supply.

If the standard K-Edge is the same as the XL one designed for the Edge 1000 you won't be able to charge on the move as the mount covers the charging port.

Good luck with the super glue.

  • Bollocks
The hacked K Edge mount will work with the booster cable and Edge 1000.

The genuine K Edge XL mount gets in the way of the booster cable getting to the charge port.

Both would work fine with my 800. I wonder if a 90 degreee micro usb cable might work.

  • The Garmin plastic mount looks like it will work fine. I just don't like the way it places the device so high up.

  • I'm very tempted to make my own Mount somehow.

I have a series of issues With regards to using an off the shelf Mount.

    • I have a 920xt, so need a Mount that is rotated 90 degrees to standard garmin bike Mounts.
    • I have Enve SES aero road bars which have barely a few mm's round clamp area each side of the stem.
    • I plan to buy a stem Which clamps the bars With vertical bolts, so no Lundquist Mount.

Might get something like the one in the pic. Then file the end a bit flatter and drill a couple holes. So it'll be clamped in the end of the stem. I need to get the stem to see if this will work though. And thats not out untill NeXT month.

it's horrible looking as well. Far too chunky.

    Not with an Edge 1000.
