Is there a recommended hanging luggage scale for weenieism?
-
• #66228
With judicious use of a plank and some trestles, I've weighed whole bikes on my 7001DX, which has also been on general kitchen duty for about 6 years now. 7kg by 1g increments makes it the perfect range for weight weenie bikes. If you must have a hanging scale, the Salter ElectroSamson in 10kg by 10g is about the highest resolution in something of the right range for not too much money.

?
I just bought an inexpensive hanging scale that was advertised, from memory, for fishermen.

Is is possible to buy Alexrims somewhere?
I am looking at the MD50 specifically. -

Is is possible to buy Alexrims somewhere?
Essentially, no. They have no retail or wholesale distribution, so the odd examples which turn up in shops as bare rims rather than attached to OTP bikes are as a result of shops getting OEM accounts with the factory.

Ebay 'digital fishing scales', a fiver will get something that works (accuracy not guaranteed and should be checked against something of known weight), £20 will get something a bit more reliable.

With a treadless tyre what is the rotation arrow telling you?
Essentially I'm putting a gatorskin (which has no tread and an arrow pointing in a direction) on my polo back wheel which gets flipped pretty much every other day... Is it best to have the rotation arrow facing the right direction for polo (main purpose and what I'd like to be most energy efficient) or for road (more distance and fixed so the occasional skid)?

If you run a tyre backwards your bike will explode causing fiery death, it's hugely dangerous.
-
• #66237
No, sorry, it makes fuck all difference.
-
• #66238
The carcass might be directional, so backwards might shorten the life of it.
-
• #66239
Well this is probably going to be moot as I've had enough trouble getting one bead on... We'll see if I can get the second one on without having an aneurism.
According to conti's website it's less rolling resistance... So the polo side is getting it... Only fiery death on the a3 etc...

Fiery death then. A lot of people run gatorskins backwards as the directional arrow is more difficult to find than the small amount of tread on the sides and they go in the opposite direction to what you'd probably assume they should go based on the tread.

Hudz make them for every other shifter but 6770! And 6700 would be different design to 6770 ..
-
• #66242
I would describe it as a wear indicator rather than tread!

Balls. Is the damage from your race?

any rack bags designed for minoura gamoh porteur rack?
I quite like the ILE one, but unsure of the fit.

Don't put your tyres on backwards, no matter what snottyotter says. Instead, put the wheel on the wrong way around. This is much more elegant and achieves two purposes in one go.

I read an interview with a guy from continental who said that they only give a direction because without them they got too many questions from people asking which way to put them on.

Any wiggle discount code floating about?

Do you mean play polo 70gi fixed, or ride to work 40gi front brake only?
Neither seems particularly appealing.

Whatever you do, do what Jan would do.
Crash into some bike racks, it's therapeutic.

Are you talking front?
Get fishing bag, they work even better and much lighter too.
