Am currently sorting through lots of board games, (sadly only two in original boxes and some of the boards have deteriorated after being in damp conditions).
Battleships
Buccaneer
Colditz
Connect 4
Diplomacy
Great Game of Britian
Spy Ring
Scoop
Tank Battle
Top of the Pops
And quite a few pieces I haven't identified yet.
Also a bag of Plastic Meccano

Awesome collection, quite a few names I recognise there, tho plastic meccano is a new one on me. I was more of a Lego kid myself. I'm sure the Meccano/Lego divide is a signifier of you and your family's socio-political background but I'm too hungover to work out the details right now.
There's a toys of your youth thread here...

Actually is a story in the newspaper today about people who collect vintage board games
Yes I am so middle aged I read the WSJ (occupational hazard too)

ah thanks.
I have two older brothers so we had it all! Probably explains why I was always a tomboy. (Am I allowed to say tomboy anymore or is it un PC?)
Sticklebricks
Lego
Plastic meccano was the entry level/small kid meccano for kids over the age of 3
We also had a LOT of proper meccano, which like the lego has been sold on.
Hornby trains. Which I was never allowed to play with. I always wanted someone to buy me a train set for Christmas.@pharoahsanders Thanks. Hope it doesn't push the price up of the things I might be looking for though. I didn't know that reading the WSJ was a middle aged thing, I always thought it was an occupational or locational hazard.

especially the befamed " escape slide"
we tried to do it in real time/life, by tying a rope from a friends tree to a lower contact point, kid had game, he tried it but failed when the line snapped and broke his arm, grew up to smash it in the recruitment game still -

I never had any of them, but those first-generation Star Wars toys were quality.
