Have you tried using Firefox or Safari, to see if it is a Chrome issue?
I'm going to pursue this. Cheers for your help.

My pleasure, sorry no progress, though! - good luck with it, pop a note here if you get it going, would you?

That happen to me too, and again on the girlfriend computer.
Can't find a way round it except using a different browser (Firefox and Safari for example).

Safari has no issues with Communicator it seems. I'm going to just run Connect on that when needed.
It's a shame Chrome is so shit re extensions and cookies. Moving (back) to Firefox isn't so easy now Google have the controlling share of my devices, contacts, mail, calendar, storage, data and soul.

It seems garmin express is causing problems for a few people, I cannot connect my edge 800 to it - anyone have a link to a communicator download for mac? Has it been taken down? It seems the solution is to use a different browser?

It's in Graham's post on the prev page.

Nope, why? Got a spare? :)

No had a question, that not many people could answer.
Wondered if it throws a shit fit if a ride is longer than a couple hundred miles.
I do know Steven A is using one.

That issue was meant to affect 800 units. Not sure if it was an issue with 1000s.
The only time my 800 went unrecoverably mental was after 30 hours constant use. -
• #1663
We'll see!

• #1664
1000 has inferior battery life to 800 and 810 - how are you getting around that?
-
• #1666
Inferior battery but possibly better mapping.
Dynamo/battery pack either way.
Edit: And it's only a theoretical 2h less from 17 to 15. So not really much.

I'm sure it has improved but the battery fail is enough to put me off. Also they changed the connectors to microusb so my external batteries would need another adapter to power them. Annoying.
What's better about the mapping? Bigger screen would be good. But as with everything bigger = more power use, higher cost.
Edit: And it's only a theoretical 2h less from 17 to 15. So not really much.
The 800 never lasted claimed anyway so don't believe the claims on the 1000.

The lower battery is likely down to the addition of using GLONASS as well.
-
• #1669
Why does GLONASS use more power?
-
• #1670
I don't believe the claims of either.
DC rainmaker said the 1000 was noticeably faster than the 810 when shifting around on maps and general use.
I just want to try it out. I know what 800/810 are like and so if it isn't better I'll go back. But if it's nicer to use maps on then that's fine. A few hours less battery is of no concern really.
-
• #1671
You still getting rid of your 810?
-

When using both GPS and GLONASS, the receiver has the ability to lock on to 24 more satellites than using GPS alone. This is particularly helpful for users who need reliable satellite navigation in challenging environments such as deep canyons or urban environments where a large portion of the sky is blocked by solid objects. The disadvantage to using both systems simultaneously is a reduction in battery life.
I can only assumed why, but the gist is that using both GPS/GLONASS take a little more power for a lots more precise lock on.

Yeah spoken for though.
Sorry bud. -

Depends how fast/slow you ride 600ks. My 800 was fine for all the 24hr races I did and most of the long training rides I did last year. Like I said, it only died once and that was during my longest ride ~30hours.
^ yep.
I've tried this. I think this is outdated advice from Garmin as Chrome isn't displaying Communicator (even though it is installed and currently working).
