  • I complete tomorrow - goodbye E3 hello E11.

  • Latest on mine is an exchange of contracts next week and a moving date of the week after Christmas.

  • Well, offer accepted on our second attempt at buying a house. Funny how I'm nowhere near as excited or trusting this time round.

  • Tried to send deposit to solicitor, Barclays have stuck a fraud marker on the account for unusual activity. This could be fun.

  • I moved from E2 to E11. Which road are you going to again?

  • not seeing the rate of return advantage here..

  • we've just bought a mother fucking house! fucking get in. just exchanged on a new place today. goodbye finsbury park and hello walthamstow. i will miss downtown mogadishu.

i've duked it out with the scumbag estate agents, absolute cunts of mortgage providers and a dodgy vendor and can now say the deal is done and i'll be moving to a new place in Jan.

Good luck out there folks. it's a mine field and you have to be persistant, wary and entirely synical about everyone involved in the whole process until you get confirmation that contracts have been exchanged. There are just too many kinks in the chain that can fail and fuck you as a buyer.

by the way reading other comments in the thread i ported a 10 year mortgage to buy this so don't be put off by locking in for long fixed mortgages if you are after certainty around monthly payments but worried about being 'locked in'. cheers

  • We've changed our minds about some tiles we ordered and returning them is going to be a pain in the arse, so does anyone want some metro tiles?

200 x 100mm, we have roughly 7.6sq m of matt white tiles, and 1.4sq m of 'Sloane Square' grey, which is a relatively light grey. They are the kind with the beveled edges.

Let me know if you're doing a bathroom/kitchen and you're interested, I'm happy to deliver them round less far-flung London and offer a good discount!

  • At what point do we walk away?
All that is left is a couple of questions about ever having disputes with the neighbours and whether they know of any subsidence issues in this house or surrounding properties plus a couple of indemnities for the removal of walls and installation of windows. These have been outstanding for a month now and I have chased through the estate agent and my solicitor has been chasing theirs direct. He can't sign off on the mortgage without them so we are left waiting and waiting for something that takes a day to sort out. We know from talking to neighbours that there are no disputes or subsidence issues so we're not worried that the failure to answer the questions is because of an issue, it's just slowness by him or his solicitor and we have no idea left on how to move this along bar the nuclear option.

  • Maybe ask your solicitor to suggest the nuclear option may be a possibility?

Also, when we had issues with the vendor's solicitor, the estate agents were a massive help (honestly). Because they had contact and a good relationship with the vendor, when it got held up they called him and he phoned his solicitor and tried to hurry them. It's likely if the vendor thinks the deal's at risk he will push them into acting.

  • tiles.

fuck sakes. Y U NO PUT AD UP THIS TIME LAST WEEK!!?

  • Just to fuck you over, I heard you were looking.

mrs hell is on it. tx.

  • Did our first viewing yesterday; now lets see how long this takes ..
Our budget is £250k and the radius from Piccadilly circus needs to be 10 miles. Ideally 2 bed. No area preference as such but we love below the river.

  • Tunnel living?

  • If thats what you call Norwood ;)

  • You could probably buy a motorbike parking spot for that and have enough left for the 1-man tent to go on it? Oh, 10mi radius.. I'm out.

  • Norwood ;)

  • New Malden/Surbiton would be even more ideal .. spending time shortlisting properties today and hoping every property agent says its gone.
