I like my 29er rims+tyres.
Seem to have found a sweet spot. Just want some of those uber shallow salsa CX drops, and a set of hydraulic drop bar brakes. Then it'll be a great gravel trail monster.

In time for this gravel grinder lark too!
Will 2015 be the year you'll finally be ahead of the pack?

Same as 2014, shame they only come in a very limited size.

I am considering a synapse 2015 105 on cycle2work as a do it all commuter. Any reason not to? does anyone know max tyre size with guards? and how the brakes are? are they hydro or cable discs?
-
• #712
It's a decent bike but the brake aren't anything special, need to upgrade to compressionless housing to get the best performance out of them.
Clearance is tight with 25mm tyres and 35mm SKS mudguard.

Oh my god, the new CAADX Rival with hydraulics.
Everyone should just buy it.
And then sell it to me later in the year. -

The alu one is very well priced at £1400 too.

Ah the caadx is nice and has bigger tyre clearance but I do like internal cable routing. I might wait for the disc condor fratello but I am sure it will be expensive

Planet-X will also release the new Holdsworth frames.

Hi all,
I'm looking for some weight weenie recommendations for a 2015 road bike - which one offers best bang for buck (or easiest to upgrade) for around £1-1,200? Looking for a lighter bike for hill climbs in the Alps.
Thank you in advance

Super Six is probably a popular choice

The 4600 cassette and 501 wheels would be things you could replace in the name of weenie.
A Focus Cayo with 6800 from Edinburgh Cycle co-op, or a Rose Xeon RS with 5800 would be lighter (and 11sp).
There is a thread full of windowshopping here:

seen this end of 2014 clearance roundup? > http://road.cc/content/buyers-guide/139655-2014-end-season-sales-road-bike-bargains
giant propel is niice, and just about doable for £1,200 (plus 99 pounds)

Cycling Plus reviewed 6 lightweight road bikes for £1500 or less last month. The Focus Cayo was their favourite, at £1299 it's close to budget.

Thanks all for the responses - the focus looks OK however I don't like the paint job on most of the new 2015 models... too many stripes or marketing on it... any simple frame suggestions? Looking for one that is simply all black - thanks

Planet X and Genesis Zero came to mind for blackness.

Planet X
Now if only somebody would produce a 36+ tyre.
2016 maybe....
