  • Que?

but no, I can change tyres pretty quickly.

  • He was referring to I running a SRAM/TRP set up previously.

Work fairly well on the original SRAM levers, don't know about the newer one.

    Would suggest going for the one with the R685 instead (full hydraulic);

They do offer frameset, I can check tomorrow at work if you like.

  • Yeah, that'd be cool Ed - otherwise, do you have a 54 built in stock? was mainly thinking I could swap all parts I have onto the frame. Plus some PDW guards. Acid yellow, black parts and dark grey anodised guards would be a nice combo.

I didn't realise you could get cable actuated hydros though, so it piqued my interest. I'm guessing they won't have the finesse and modulation of full hydraulics which is really the main benefit I guess. Hmm, must research.

  • The TRP HY/RD is the first of it's kind, it's not without teething problem, and the 2015 model come with the most updated version that have the issues ironed out (sticky piston, not enough oil to allow auto adjusting pads, etc.).

The main issues is merely the pads which can easily be worn out in winter, swapping them out for the Shimano non-organic does the trick.

The other good thing about the Genesis is that they learnt that having compressionless housing make all the difference, which even the budget cable pull disc bikes now have.

The HY/RD after some fiddling and swearing is the closest you can get to the feel of a full hydro, it just miss that tiny little sharp bite we tend to feel with a full hydro.

Ashima is now going to bring out their own version after realising that the majority of mid to high end road/cx bicycle come with HY/RD and want in.

  • I'm putting drops on the SS 29er.

Hylex, or some sort of cable-hydraulic thingie?

Given its a SS. I cant see why to add cables at all. Am I missing something?

  • Hylex is awesome, although when you adjust the reach on it, the levers have a little play which can annoyed some people.

Hood shape feel like a skinner and longer version of the latest SRAM one.

  • Right, I found some more info, I think it look awesome with the gunmetal colour, the base price for the 725 Equilibrium is £499, have not got enough info about the frame and should be released in a couple of weeks time;

  • That looks nice. I'd prefer to see the disc mount inside the frame though, for less rack faffage.

  • ed whats the chance of getting that fork seperately

  • You should be able to get the aftermarket as nearly all of them were old rebranded Whisky fork (AFAIK).

Can ask Sportline if your shop doesn't stoop that low to have them as a distro.

  • Focus Cayo disk looks top notch for the price!

  • Hydraulics, 15mm thru-axles. @edscoble would like

  • Low stack for his liking ..

  • And not mudguard eyelets.

It's not scoble approved. Like the Saracen.

    But I like; http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/category/frames/road/product/review-focus-cayo-14-48551/

  • It got a race geometry which should please @miro_o

  • I want to like those SRAM hydraulic shifters, but no, I can't.

  • Sadly not - 170mm of ht in my size.

The Icalzo is the only Focus that fits people with functioning spines.

  • 20 cm head tube and spine functioning well today. Thank you.

  • Then why did you catch a train? :-)

  • You're right they're shit.

    Just get shimano.

  • Riding home through London would have wrecked altitude in feet > miles x 100 equation.

  • You need a large with a stack of 569mm?

  • I need the reach so yeah.

  • I usually ignore headtube length as they can varies due to fork length and BB drop.
