  • Ooh, I haven't seen Limitless...

  • you kinda have!

  • Limitless is a yuppie's idea of unlimited potential. Or an American's, the terms are interchangeable. So the brainiest man in the world makes money and runs for office and impresses his girlfriend by speaking Chinese to the waiter. It's shallow and trivial and acquisitive and materialistic.

  • So the exact opposite of Lucy?

  • actually they're all half-inched from "flowers for algernon".

  • Limitless looked great, interesting use of colour, good cinematography and fractal zooms implemented well, rather than a gimmick.

  • I liked the film, De Niro wasn't as rubbish as he usually is these days. It's just a man with unlimited potential was purely selfish.

  • Limitless is a good movie. Brain out entertainment, but no need for the big screen tho.

Watched jack reacher....you were all right. Cruise is wrong for the role.

  • It's just a man with unlimited potential was purely selfish.

    Trufax. Diet American Psycho.

  • American dream more like.

  • Anyone seen The Double? It's a kind of a dark comedy, set in a bleak England alternate 1950-60's.
Fairly simple plot, some alright acting (I loved Tim Key's small role), nice score and full of dystopian angst.

  • Dostoyevsky, innit. keep your eyes peeled for mid to late 90s alt college rock leg end.

  • Yeah, I enjoyed it...

  • Dallas Buyers Club last night. I'm so up-to-date it hurts. I liked it a lot, I disliked McConnaughey's character immediately, which made me like him more as an actor straight away because of how good he is. Then because of that I started to like his character more, even before his big film transition.

Horrible subject matter, amazingly acted, and it was great to see the great Bradford Cox in it as well, looking the weirdest/unhealthiest of all of them without any need for method acting.

  • Just watched Northern Soul, far better than the last one.

  • Souled Out? Wouldn't be hard - have the NS DVD saving for weekend (natch)

  • Looks good, some of those guys are starting to look old.

  • SAPS circa 52 secs.

wut? Is morgan freeman in this?

  • Gonna be a looooooooooooooooooong wait.

  • Booked tickets for 2001 at the BFI in November. I never tire of seeing it.

  • ^ I saw it on big screen a couple of years ago, very good - they even observed the original intermission

  • Gone Girl.

Opening scene I was worried I was in for another To The Wonder with those shots, the music, and the promise of Ben Affleck.

It left me wanting, and I don't mean in a good way. Plot issues and it wraps up neatly at the end in a way I don't think it should.

  • ^ if that sounds ambiguous it's because I don't want to make any spoilers.
