Cheers, but estimated delivery is 17th - 27th Oct. and I need it for 19th.
Hubjub have got 22t, which with a 39t ring gives me 46.6: I got up there on +/-73 this morning, so I reckon that'll do.

Anyone done Bec cc HC have any suggestions for fixed gearing? @BringMeMyFix ?
-
• #7679
(The tallest gear on which you can clear the steepest gradient) x a percentage based on individual physiological strengths, weather, and attitude on the day

I'd take gears. And gear.

I'd lower my rear tyre pressure for maximum grip.

Wide rims. Don't lean. Don't ride alu - it's far too harsh.

Or just get fat and stay seated.

This would equate to 39x26 for me. Only because I don't have anything smaller.

Good luck by the way!

I will also be riding the national fixed if i get a place, went up to the Stocksbridge open event last month to check the hill out and while fixed probably isnt the best choice, it could be worse! What gear were you planning on riding? I think im going to go for 39/21.

It depends on how much weight I can lose beforehand but I'll probably stick to 38x25 (41"). I have a 20t rear and a 44t front I can use as well, neither of which would give me a gear I'd be happy with (maybe 44x25) so will likely use 41".
I rode Nationals back in 2008 on fixed (with double trispokes for banter) with 38x20 in Matlock and that got pretty steep in the middle! It was much shorter back then though. Will say hi if I see you, I'll be the 200kg guy trying not to get girled.

20.58 at Tring, ticks the 10 mile target for the season. Power pb, need to work out CdA.
-
• #7694
need to work out CdA.
Still not too sure about this, but I make it about 0.1975 until the hill, after which it increases (due to the decrease in temperature and the headwind from the last turn?) @xavierdisley?
Or, if i play with Eoffset and get V elevation to sort of sit in the average of elevation, then I get about 0.18.

Finally lost the club hill climb good and proper to Tom Z.
I mean, they lost my time (obviously money changed hands up the top ;) ) and I had to ride it twice but he smashed it good and proper so no chance. The best thing is I can stop riding the bloody things! -

Good work! Check your Crr and Rho calcs, drop the Crr a touch although it all depends on how the top bit is doing as it will be different top/bottom section

Hounslow 27
There are road works and traffic lights on the course - we may have to cancel the event.
Surrey County Council website say work will not be finished until Monday 2oth October, but a notice at the site says they will be finished by Friday 17th. We will inspect at the end of the week, and I'll post here with an answer by Friday night

I've done a 25 before and was stopped on the out AND back, the Welsh 12 that I lost by 800 yards, I was stopped on 5 of 6 laps. The ECCA National 12 I was stopped but can't remember how often. Could it not run with lights in place? It would make it a VERY sporting course :)

As a fixie skidder I'd be obligated to jump the reds.
